It must be!

I have seen 3 similar listings on EBAY in the last 2 months, and all were pulled before the auction ended.

Notice that the seller wants you to contact them through a PRIVATE e-mail address, and not through the normal chanel, which is through E-bay.
I've been told that this is a tell-tail sign of a scam

This may be the same scam that got picked up a couple of days ago by the ACTUAL owners of the two campers listed here. A dealership in New Jersey warned us about this a couple of days ago on the forum (if it's the same scam). The scammer simply copied photos and descriptions off the dealer website and listed them on Ebay. Hoping to pull somebody in for a quick buck, I suppose.

Indeed, too good to be true.

Jim

Just for the hell of it , I e-mailed the seller with a offer to buy the Bambi for the "Buy It Now" price of $5600.00 . This is the reply:

Dang it! They're poofed. I missed another good opportunity!

I see Greenacres is right next to the wildlife sanctuary. Doesn't Ted Kennedy have a place not too far from there?

That was better than most of the emails...did you run the ISP to see where it came from? To me the give away is when you mouse over the pictures it shows the person's email, ebay doesn't do that...

Scam

I contacted EBAY last night regarding the Bambi scam, the listing was gone this morning. I hate thieves, and using Airstreams to steal should be a capitol offense.

I sent an email just to see, and this a response I got:

Hi ,

I decided to end the auctions early after I received what seemed to be an excellent offer. But the potential buyer is not answering to my emails. I am kind of disappointed because now everything seems like a bad joke.
Bottom line the unit is still available.
I will tell you a few words about the trailer..
First of all the trailer looks just like in the pictures.
It is in immaculate condition and has no scratch on .
The motor runs very well.
The title is clear ,it is not a salvage one, and is already back signed .

I will shipp using DAS 3-5 days and there a truck will bring the triler at your door.
Please let me know if you are still interested and please provide me you full name , ebay ID and shipping address so I can open ebay squaretrade regarding our deal .
You will have all the details that you need to complet this transaction .

The shipping is included in price .
Please let me know if you have any more questions ..

Regards
Matt

To which I replied: There IS no motor.

I emailed the ebay account holder so they are aware that a scam is involved using their account, two accounts so far, and ebay informed me that it is confirmed it is a scam.

Or, send them an email something like the following:

I am very interested in your Airstream travel trailer. It is exceptionally beautiful. I don’t know how you are able to sell it at such a low price, but I won’t ask because this looks almost too good to be true. I have just talked to my wife and she said I can buy it if I want to. I sure do want it.

However, I have a couple more questions about the trailer before buying it from you.

Do you happen to know whether this trailer has a safe, or a place with a lock on it where I can keep my money and my wife can keep her jewelry when we travel? I know some of the new recreational vehicles have a place to keep valuable things like this locked up so thieves cannot steal them. I usually take a large amount of money with me when I travel, and my wife has many diamond rings and necklaces and I don’t want to have anything stolen.

Now for the most important thing – how can I pay you for this trailer? Just now, all of my readily available cash is in 2 bank accounts that I keep hidden from the tax men. One of these accounts is in Lichtenstein and the other is in Nassau in the Bahamas. So that I do not have any problems with the authorities, I only withdraw money from these accounts in Dollars US currency, never by certified bank check or wire transfer, so that it cannot be traced back to me.

If you are able to meet me in one of these locations soon, I will go there myself, and take some money from my bank account and give it to you. As compensation for your time and travel, I will pay you an extra amount for your help. If you are selling the trailer for 5.800$US, I will pay you 15.000$US, if you agree to meet me in either one of those places.

After I pay you for the trailer, you can give me the title to it, and tell me where to go to pick it up. I do not wish to use an independent transportation company, so no one except you and I know I am buying this trailer from you.

I am anxious to hear from you at the soonest moment.

Kindest regards,

ALLL RIGHT! Now we are getting somewhere! Gotta love baiting these guys, besides the time they spend with you is less time for them to be scamming someone else.
