Introduction

Hi All,

Thought I'd introduce myself to this forum. My name is Vince, and I'm helping my Dad out with his 1975 Safari 23' that he bought about 3 years ago. My family (wife & 3 yo boy) have started "borrowing" his AS for vacations this year, and are finding that it's great! I tow with a 2000 Ford Expedition with the 5.4, and I find it's a good fit for my family and the trailer.

Enough about that, you guys probably want to hear about the trailer, right? OK, so it's a '75 Safari, 23', single axle, and seems to be almost totally original inside. Everything works, is extremely clean, and looks great. Brakes, propane etc has been properly maintained. New water heater 4 years ago. The two gaucho(?) seats have been re-upholstered, and a microwave has been added by the PO. All "roll" cabinets work perfectly. Carpet was added at some point, and a new shower curtain.

The outside is about what you would expect from a 29 year old trailer, although it is dry around here and we don't have acid rain. It is peeling (& oxidizing?) on the roof, and there are a couple of bumps & scrapes. The trim looks faded & somewhat pitted. So do the AS letters. I'll have to fix those. In a couple of spots, it looks like the PO has tried to fix the skin, and it is a darker colour metal there.

I'm going to help fix up things here and there, in exchange for "borrowing" his trailer continuously. My dad is thinking of having the outside re-done, and is negotiating with the "accounting dept".

I'll post a few pics of the trailer here once I figure out how to do that. I look forward to meeting some of you forum members, and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions!
