I have seen lots of Avions and Airstreams in ads and the photos that have dates on them are often from a year or so ago. I bet that's it it.

Yep, and a lot can happen in a year or more. I now ask for current photos. It is interesting on some of the responses - from oh, well, that was before we took the fender off when it got hit and we haven't put the new on yet, but it will be by the time it's sold, to those photos were taken when we bought it in 2001 and it looks just about like that now excepting we've been using the trailer for storage the past 8 years.

Saw what appeared to be a 1956 Caravanner with the panoramic windows streetside and 13 panels today. It was passing the St. Louis Airport on Hwy 70 heading into the city.

Looks to be a late '57, '58 or a 59 Overlander since the Airstream name plate ghost image is under the window and it has 7 panels. Could be a good candidate.

I concur. It's hard to be certain, but it looks to have 1957-58 California sloped top wheel wells and the front street side window style (large fixed upper pane and small opening pane underneath) was last used in 1958 or 1959. It also appears to be a rare (for those years) tandem axle Overlander.

I'm just curious about what might have showed up in our back yard. Maybe it's better not to know.

We went to Turlock for ours, also through craigslist. The ebay ones all seemed to be in North Carolina.

Apparently it sold fast and someone is looking to buy it off the recent buyer. Now I'm REALLY curious. I don't know particulars about price or model or condition in the original ad, but someone is now willing to pay $3,000 for it.

It was in good looking condition but not much detail in the ad. The seller bought the stream with a piece of property and wanted to off it fast. He had little idea of value from what I recall of his description. Partially polished, completely untested systems... I recall he stated that he couldn't show it right away
The shell looked quite straight from the pics. It will be a worthwhile restore if it gets in the right persons hands before the price runs up too high.
