If you are in a moderate climate, how do you store your AS?
I am in the SF Bay Area and am wondering if I need to cover the rig. It will be parked outdoors at a storage facility under the freeway. Should I cover the tires too?

If by cover you mean one that sits directly on the airstream then NO. Those covers can damage the clearcoat.

No cover. Good wax, and if it could freeze blow out the water lines

Forum users recently discussed and compiled lists of maintenance items and products they use to keep their Airstream in good condition. Very good information from the folks who actually use these trailers. Note that some climates may require additional preventive care, for example corrosion prevention near coastal salt air.

If you can erect a fully enclosed canopy garage tent like I mentioned in your washing/waxing question topic at that storage yard, then that would keep the salt air & everything else cruddy off the AS.
I don't know the length of your AS, & the canopies are available in different lengths & widths/heights & easy-up or assembly flavors, but you might have to look at the race car & more commercial websites & suppliers to get one for your AS LxWxH + some (the tongue can stick out & then secure the canopy's "garage door" around it. Leg ht. on them can be extended too, but the sides may need add-on material then.
Your storage place may not let you do that, or they may have enclosed spaces/garages to rent as an even better alternative. Some older industrial areas also have small multi-tenant spaces to rent to store stuff, and some airports have hangers where they'll rent a corner as other options.
As a former Huntington Beach resident 3 blocks off the beach, I can attest to the perils of salt air, & you will have it from both E bay & W ocean sides on the peninsula (& south in Benecia). We're 15+/- miles inland here in Orange CA, so it's not an issue here, but dust, birds, bugs, etc. are - ergo our tent - so even inland it helps.

We're in the Sacramento area (moderate climate). We store our's indoors out of the elements entirely. Prior to living here, we lived in Fresno and stored our AS outdoors in a covered storage area. Sun was our biggest issue there even though our storage space was covered (the sun still hit part of the trailer and there is some aging on the horizontal chrome trim bands around the middle and lower areas). Others have already said salt air will be your biggest issue. But, if your storage area is under a freeway you could have road spray from traffic traveling overhead on some days. Wash and wax frequently. Tires should be ok without covers if your site is completely in the shade.

I'm lucky to be able to store my AS in a warehouse type facility. Yes it costs a little more but think of all the positives. Too many to list.
