Ideas to cover and secure your trailer?

We are looking for ways to secure our AS on commercial property we own, so we won't be there to keep vigil at night. It's a roofing yard and vandals/theives a rare problem in past but this may be inviting someone to break in and see what they can get, as I have read in recent posting this does unfortunately occur.

There are metal storage units and also some made of canvas which would be more reasonable, and would like to hear suggestions for covering and protecting your AS and what you use. Have checked indoor storage in San Diego, it's about 300. per month and there are only 2 in the entire county that I could find, neither close by or what I would be willing to pay!

As to stealing unit, this property is fenced and we will have the forklift parked in front of hitch so at least it can't leave the yard, but am worried about break-ins and what we can do to prevent one if anything.

Thanks all, our unit is coming in 3 weeks and this is something we need to get soon, would keep at home where we could keep better watch but our home property has no flat storage, it's on a hillside.

See below for a 21' X 24' building - I just pulled the mfg off the first pop-up on a search. Erection is a no brainer - especially with a fork lift. I would guess no more than $3,000 for everything (erection-wise), including welding 6" steel "I" beams for a temporary (sort of) foundation. (No cement necessary),

At $300 per month off site storage, the building and erection (8 Grand Total) would pay out in a bit over 2 years.

There are many of these available, am hoping for specific brands from forum members if possible as would order sight unseen.

The above mentioned would work as it has 10'doors, it's $4500 and they do ship to Ca for $800 so still a good choice considering storage cost.

Barbara:

There should be several manufacturers close to you...search the yellow pages for "Steel Buildings". Also look for "Steel Building Components". The buildings are sold as "kits", but are comprised of fairly standard structural and panel components. These manufacturers or kit bundlers often have leads to good erection crews in the area. The building kits are versatile enough that you could spec a 12' X 12' door if you need it.

Erection is certainly doable yourself, but there is a bit of a learning curve. You will have to decide for yourself if you want to tackle it or sub it out.
