I shall return!...........hopefully

Well, the time has come. The Safari is up for sale.

The better half is preggers and we need something with more room. I am sure we could have managed, but frankly i didnt want to anymore. It was a bit too cramped for just us and the dog. Add a little one into the mix and all of its stuff and i would have been pushed over the edge.

I no longer wish to worry about upkeep on a vintage trailer. We have purchased a 25' SOB with walk around queen and rear bunks.

Hopefully someday we will own another airstream. A nice shiny new one. that day is long off though.

In a perfect world i would have had someplace to store it and not worry about it sitting around underfoot so that i could work on a complete restoration at my own slow pace. Ah well.

If anyone is looking for themselves of a friend, here is the add. It is also on Craigslist.

Congratulations to you and your wife, may God bless this new child. I am sad to hear you are selling your Airstream but I'm sure someday there will be another waiting around the corner. Best of luck.

Too bad you have purchased the SOB already. There are a number of 30' Safari Bunks available with front walk around Queen beds and a pair of bunks in the rear. Add to that a dinette that converts to a bed and you could have slept a minimum of 6. Ours has the optional sofa and we can sleep 8. Some have a second Queen plus upper bunk that adds extra person.

Perhaps you should keep an eye out for one of those when you get ready to get back into 'streamin' again.

Congrats on the new one!

Actually others for whatever reason have let their Streams go but stayed here. You can too.
I'd rather be boon docking in the desert.

I don't think you are asking enough.
I'd hold out for at least 85 and start asking at 10 grand.
When the baby comes and you gotta have the dough maybe you could fall back if it still sits. I agree it should not last long at 65.

love the way you decorated your safari... i agree, it will sell fast!!

i was pregnant when we bought our 34 footer. it's funny, after one season camping with the baby we are thinking we don't need all the room and should have bought smaller...must be a "grass is greener" thing. if we had bought small i'd be eyeing the biggies now. maybe i am destined to own 2 airstreams...

Our 28' seems too small and narrow for our family a lot of the time. Enjoy your new toy (even if it's not all bright and shiny)!

Thanks for the nice words all.

As for getting a 30' model...more than i want to tow with my 1/2 ton truck.

I confess that part of me just does not want to work on an old trailer anymore. I was dragged kicking and screaming into the world of vintage trailer ownership by my better half. I have grown to appreciate these old silver bullets. They certainly have a style all their own and the community here is second to none. I firmly believe that. My few days on the Open Roads forums has confirmed that.

Some day when i have time and money in abundance along with my own indoor shop, i will return to rebuild a vintage with the interior i want. Until then i will be one of those others.

btw, here is a link to the model i bought. It isnt one from one of the big RV makers. A small outfit with a bit more of style in their interior options. The 2008 model year was the last year they made the 25' bunk house model. It is the top floor plan, the X-250 BHS.

Cruiser Rv : Fun Finder X Travel Trailer

Thanks again.
