I miss my Airstream
I have spent the last 8 months full-timing in my Airstream. I am 3 weeks into a 180 day deployment living in a tent in a desert. I REALLY miss my "stream".
But at least I can check this site every now and again

Must be hard being away from home!! Haha--sounds like you miss your AS more than you miss your family. It is crazy how attached you get to your AS. I wrote once before in a forum that with your AS you make lifelong memories with family and friends and having an AS only adds to the experience. My AS provides me with a get-away. Sometimes I just leave my house and just sit around in my AS--no phones, no TV's, no noise. Peace and quiet! I do miss traveling this year as I took a job at home, but I long to take another traveling assignment. There is nothing like the open road and pulling your AS dream and starting a new adventure. I always enjoyed passing other AS's on the road as we would wave fanatically toward one another! We have a tribe of our own! Hang in there and come home soon....

This adds a whole new dimension to the Forum. How many of our members/readers are serving overseas? What can we do to support them and let them know we do? Prayers, for sure, for safety there and safe arrival back home and for their families. Funny stories to entertain them? The Forum has lots of those! More?

This is not a secure site. Careful. Remember the WWII posters...Loose lips sinks ships. Not trying to be negative but it would be terrible if the enemy felt like dropping one on you guys in that "desert".
When I was deployed overseas, all I could tell my mom was that I was safe.
BTW, thanks for being there.

Hey Guys,
Not only do we have the best soldiers, sailors and airmen and women in the world but we have two right here on the Airstream forum. Doing a great job over there, really love and appreciate you all for everything you do and the sacrifices you and your families make. I served during Desert Storm (Navy) and I know a little of what you face each day although it is a different ballgame in most ways. Just wanted you to know from a sister forum member how much you are appreciated.. Go get the bad guys!

Talk about sacrifices for your country. Giving up family including the Airstream to go to war in the Middle East must be so insanely hard, I can not even imagine. You guys make the sacrifices so I can go camping this summer in this beautiful country in peace. We owe everything to our solidiers. Thanks guys! And know that everyone on this forum wishes you a speedy, safe return to your beloved Airstreams. If we ever meet on the road, the beers are on me. Rock On!

Infinite LUX and newae (tony);
I will be back over in Qatar soon (work related) and I would like to take you guys out to dinner one night if you can swing it. It would be my pleasure and the least I can do. Let me know. I am not sure when, but it should be soon. I'll be staying at the Marriott on the Corniche. I'll actually be working right across the highway from the main gate to the base.
FYI to everyone else. Qatar is not in the war zone. It IS major support though as we have been moving everything out of Saudi Arabia to there. The Qataris are VERY USA friendly. And it is a REALLY very boring little country. Winter weather is very pleasant but the summers are brutal with temperatures 120+ during the day. And there are no trees. No shade at all.

Bobby W,
Thanks for the invite but I am working 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Not any time for pleasure unfortunately. I am also a contractor and not active duty although I am retired military.........
