I know its not an Argosy...

.........but I am not sure where to post this. Maybe an admin can move it to the correct place.
I saw this in a field a few miles from home. Could only make out the top from the road and thought it was a Travelux. So I waited till my son was with me and went to ask if we could look at it. In addition to this, the owner has vintage car (wrecks) and motorcycles galore. We spent almost an hour with the owner getting a tour. This trailer came off the hitch and got damaged so it was modified but too low on the back. They flipped the axel (or so I am told) to make it higher but now the wheels are tow out and it will not run in a straight line!
Project or not?
What year and model is it?

From what I can see quickly from the serial number it is a 1957 Overlander.

I did wonder if it was from the '50's.
Not sure about the unit in the link, the back is not sloping.

It has a flat rear end and bee hive clearance lamps on the flat sides. I think it is a 51-53 Flying Cloud. It is definitely a project!

That hurts to look at! So did they move the rear axle back as well? Then attached that old car frame to the front with another axle up there - and then expect to tow it? Very odd creation. Too bad because it looks pretty straight otherwise. Someone put a lot of work into messing that trailer up What did you see inside?

It's a 53 Flying Cloud, but someone STOP Chris. Chris some are just not up to rebuilding.

Wow - what a lot of work to make that a mess. I would think it would take lots of hours and hours or money to pay someone to put it back on a proper frame - OUCH! Poor Airstream....

You know Doug I hadn't given it any thought but I probably could graft the lower front end off the 63 O'lander on to that 53 FC and come up with a hybrid.
What year is that trailer?
Well It's a 1953/1963 Flying Cloud/Overlander. Or even a 1953 to 1963 Flying Overlander.
We can rebuild it. Stronger, faster a $6 million Airstream. Probably end up costing that much to do it.

It was so full of junk that seeing was difficult, but they had of course made that front area a bed. Upper cabinets were there and as you enter, on the left side is a work top. Thats about as much as I could see.
I am in central Alberta and it was towed by the current owner from BC, where the accident/repairs(?) took place. Its been in this field for a few years.
Now that I look at it closer, I do see that the axle was moved back.

Lots of useable parts to salvage off a very old and hard to find unit but so far away. Sadly, this thing was probably in not so bad shape after whatever happened to it then the mods really screwed it up. I would have liked to of had this one.

Its only 30 minutes or so from home. I wonder if its worth trying to get it off the Guy and salvage it?
Frank, would someone like yourself be interested in the parts and what might they be worth?
