Gustav
If you go to weatherunderground,it shows tracking to Mexico or out in the Gulf,of course no one knows for sure. Our lakes and ditches are full,so we don`t need another one. 5 day forecast shows cat 1 then back to T.P.as it crosses Cuba. Just Hunker Down. Dave

We should all know by now that predictions this far out, are just about useless. Look at Fay's initial predicted tracks, and then look where it went. Surprised the heck out of everyone. Interesting to see what this one will do.

From CNN
and I quote: "It could go to the right or to the left depending on which way it goes". And who says hurricane tracking isn't a modern science.

Terry, I bet you could have won in Las Vegas with those odds. You just never know about hurricanes.

Move to inland Maine! All we have to worry about up here is ice storms and freezing to death! I spent most of my working career in the tropics, and in the coastal areas of the U.S., on bridges, underwater pipelines, shipping facilities, dredging, and the like. It's nice to watch hurricanes from a distance!

Storm
I got real lucky with this one and it never rained real hard or strong winds.Either way...I am always ready no matter what and I have another place in town if I have to go there also but if it is bad I am leaving. After all these years you can only take so much of it before you just want to leave and then worry about what to do next when you see your place.
I remember when I had to leave during Opal.It took a week and a half before they let me on the beach to go back to my house.I am glad I have my Airstream now.I stayed with my parents back then.

Jim, good luck. Some of our family is leaving. We're staying. I think Gustav has an "eye" on us.

We will be out of here very quickly when it is time to go. We weathered Katrina out at Fort Wilderness but have no firm plans of what we will do this time. We decide where to evacuate to once we have an Idea which way the storm may go after landfall and how bad the traffic is.
Best of luck and stay safe.

Hurricane GUSTOV
Well, there goes the 20th anniversary in Destin at Topsail State Park. Called the campgrond and we have until tomarrow to change the dates. Looks like we will move to the weekend of the 19th to be safe. The friends that watch our labs will evacuate - can't say I blame them - if the storm is anywhere near us here in South Mississippi. To many vivid memories of Katrina 3 years ago. With the counterflow on the higways - chances are we won't be allowed back to our home if it's close.
Glad I preped the CCD for Florida and fixed some nagging issues - now she may be used as my hurricane shelter somewhere up north.
Extend the line to land and it goes through my house........

Business at the stores here in Mississipi is picking up-supplies, gas cans, generators, etc. Gustav seems to be slowing down a little, we don't need it in the warm Gulf waters too long.

Best of luck to all of you in the possible path of this storm. It's sounding big and maybe getting bigger, so scoot on out of there. Be wise, be safe. Keeping you in our thoughts...~G

If anyone is headed to North La., I have courtesy parking just off of I-49. All are welcome. Just mapquest 174 rowe rd., Stonewall, La. You'll see the bambi. Plenty of room and fresh country air.

And while we can't offer free parking, there is plenty of shaded sites at the RV park just off I-75 in central Florida, if y'all want to head this way. It can be a plan "B".
Welcome To Quail Run RV Park
