May take you up on that, don't know which way I will have to run. Can I run a Honda Generator without disturbing the neighbors?

It will take a few more days to see where this thing is going. Right now New Orleans looks like the target. Best to be ready to roll.

OK Jim, but for all of us here, it may have to be Gustav Caravan, but to where, which way do we go?

A veer of this storm to the east means it's closer to me - in Panama City Beach. If that happens, we'll be making last minute preps this weekend in anticipation of hitting the road with the A/S Sunday or Monday. And the weather on TV tonight said there are a couple more disturbances coming westward toward the Caribbean. We may have a rough time the next few weeks!

That is up to the National Weather Service. Here is a link to the event.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/cale...-30;&e=468&c=1
I had a friend who stayed at the Top Of Georgia for several weeks after Katrina. I would have to rejoin the WBCCI.
If anyone gets on the road at least let us know where you are headed we may meet up. For those who have not dealt with this situation you never really know where you may end up or how long you will be there. I have ended up in Dallas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Fort Wilderness for various storms. I often don't know where I will go until I am on the road and have a little running room. You always want to get out of the path of the storm to avoid all the nasty things that go on as it move inland. Just getting out of New Orleans can take hours. The "New Governor " is already on top of it so hopefully we will have fewer issues. The best of luck to everyone involved and stay safe.

A good place to hang out until the storm passes would be in Tunica, MS. The Hollywood Casino and Sam's Town Casino both have lots of extremely nice full hookup spaces for $15 and $12 per night respectivelywith showers and laundry. And the buffets aren't bad either. We always stay there for a few days on our trips south and have found few parks any nicer (or cheaper). Just a thought.

Like Clancy Boy, we have reservations at Topsail starting Saturday. Will make our go/no go decision about 6:00 am Saturday morning. We will not be happy campers if Gustav ruins our trip but not nearly as unhappy as those of you living in his path. Stay safe.

Bugging Out

Russ,
Our thoughts exactly. Let me know when/where you're headed and we might try and link up, or at least try the same destination. And.....I thought we would be partying with Roadtoaster at Topsail this weekend.....best laid plans of mice and men!

For folks coming this way to north central Florida, there are plenty of CG's off I-75. A few in the Lake City area. High Springs Campground at Exit 404, Travelers at Exit 399. A bunch down Ocala way, too.
I have CP, see sig.

We don't list courtesy parking but have 30 A and water in Brandon open to a fellow airstreamer in a pinch. We also have 2 RV sites (30 A and really bad water ) at our weekend place just off the Natchez Trace near Kosciusko. The entry and exit can be tight but we do it with our 29' and regularly have 35' RV's in there. Turning around to exit is the challange and if it rains the driveway turns into a slippery impassable adventure so planning ahead can be important... . Come up early, we'll be bushhoggin' all weekend!

Storm
I am prepping also just in case.I have a feeling if it does get big enough we are all going to have to leave.Heading to I-75 would be the way to go also.Since you all in the mississippi and the other closer states are going to more than likely evacuate maybe looking for a solid campground would be a good thing to do and everyone can be together to at least make it less stressfull and have a bit of fun in the process without thinking what is happening to the area so much.
Less stress is better and with this and a few more coming we can use it for sure.

The next few days & weeks may keep us all glued to NOAA, weatherunderground and The Weather Channel. I don't like it when Jim Cantore shows up on the beach in Gulfport or Biloxi.

Looks like we have another one following on the heels of the first one. I think I heard the name "Hannah" mentioned. We may be at the Thang rally sooner than we thought, if this keeps up.
Anybody want a separate thread on Hannah, or just keep updating the two in this one thread? One thread may be easier to keep up with.

Roadtoaster, good waiting until Saturday morning to make a decision. Nothing worse than coming for a nice weekend and not being able to escape on Monday or Tuesday if all the masses of people are leaving at the same time. The good news is it seems Gustav is tracking more west than before. You might be coming south to da beach after all.
Chief, we'll see what happens. Let's keep in touch if we have to hit the road.

We invited our 29 year old daughter to come with us on this trip. She will be bummed out if we can't make it. Between her and Pat, I have a feeling I may be going to Topsail even if we only get one day on the beach!! Saturday morning will tell the tale.
