Cape Canaveral area had little impact ... though the other end of our county got a significant amount of rain and a tornado in another community (mostly manufactured homes - or that's what it used to be). KSC reopens for work at noon. Yuck. My home is nestled under an oak canopy --- have lots of debris, moss, leaves, palm fronds to clean up. Seems the worst of the storm hit around 2:30 am. Quiet now. Yeah!

It's always surprising to me how few people *secure* their homes.... don't see any evidence of the multiple political signs that were in many yards Tuesday morning... guess those blew off somewhere.

Of course this is terribly unfair to all who have suffered real damage, but we've certainly seen storms far worse ...

Not much impact here in the Gainesville area yet, other than rain. It gets a little breezy at times, but not much wind to speak of yet, company weather station on I75 reporting 6 mph winds right now. A few sprinkles and short downpour bursts. Just emptied the rain gauge here at work, only 3/10ths of an inch since leaving last night.

We seem to have the only hurricane in history that is afraid of being over the ocean... Fay has moved offshore, but is still within sight of land. I'm watching the news, and there are areas that have gotten 18 inches of rain. We've gotten an inch (maybe). Lots of clouds, quite a bit of wind the last couple of days, but it's fairly calm now, and still cloudy.

It's a beautiful morning out in the Central Time Panhandle. According to the forecast, Fay is headed this way. Hopefully, She will move quickly and leave nothing but rain in her wake.

We were supposed to have partly sunny skies and no chance of rain 'till tomorrow, but we have been covered with gray clouds and some pretty nice winds all morning. I've been in the office all day so I don't know if we have had any rain, but I think we will get some by the end of the day...this time it's not "a day late."

Who else is getting ready for some strong winds and lots of rain?I know a few here where I live.Luckyducks,Moosetags,Chief, and a few others.I am just curious as to what you are doing to the Airstreams.
Living on the beach for me is ok except for the salt sprays from the winds once it goes onshore.I know Moosetags lives very close also.
I will be turning the sprinklers on once it stops raining to delute the salt on my yard so it does not kill it.Plus give the Airstream a good bath as well as the house on some areas.
oh and it should be close to being on top of us by saturday so that is going to be fun. This kind of rain sucks really bad.It goes sideways and somehow finds its way into places in your home you would never thought it would go into.Hopefully this wont happen. This was a big issue with our last storm from what I was hearing from some friends who worked on roofs.

I haven't been keeping up with it too much because the storm isn't a hurricane anymore (is it?) and by the time it gets to us it will just be rain. But I would think the last time I saw its track, you would be getting the rain/wind from your north and wouldn't have so much salt spray and the wind will also have died down.

Luckily it is from the north right now but once it passes us we are going to get those nice sw onshore winds and then the fun will begin.I am hoping though that once it does it it will be blowing around20 mph with 30 mph gusts by then. What is really bad is when you have no rain and the beach sand gets blown at you. That is whats really bad.

We've got Lucy in the driveway tonight in case we choose to leave the coast.
We also have enough gas on hand for the Honda 2000's to provide power for a couple of days. The Hondas give us enough power to do Lucy with the AC plus the refer in the house. We're prepared for fay.

Same here.

I am ready also.hopefully it will be ok and not jump back into the ocean to build up just a little bit to bring more winds.a little bit is all it would take to start doing some real bad damage.

Here is a great weather site I always use.
