Question How to measure TT

We are new to this sport, hobby, whatever. Have been looking for a small travel trailer for several months and have narrowed it down between an Airstream and one other brand. We found a 92 Airstream Excella. The owner states it is 28 feet. In his notebook full of Airstream and appliance manuals, he has highlighted everything pertaining to 28 feet. My husband and I both measured it. One of us measured at 32+ feet and the other at 33 feet (give or take a few inches). Of ALL the TTs we've looked at, when they quote length they always include the bumper and the hitch. No exceptions. IS AIRSTREAM DIFFERENT? For some reason, do they not include the hitch & bumper in their length quote? For the life of me, I can't figure out why the owner would claim 28ft when it clearly measures 32-33 feet, total. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Betty Jo

My 19' Bambi is 19'5" from tongue to rear of trailer. In all the posts it seems that Excella's are all over 30'. Maybe the seller is just incorrect?

My understanding is length is stem to stern, hitch and bumper included. The 28 ft length may be the trailer body, but the size it based on overall length.

By the way, my manual also covers the Safari models, and someone (prior owner?) has highlighted everything pertaining to 25'. Also, if you can get the serial number, than there is a thread on this site which will tell you how to figure out the exact year, model and length of the TT. Also, the Airstream site has this information.

Airstream specs are measured from the back of the rear bumper to the front of the hitch coupler on the tongue. My "34" is exactly the 34'10" the Airstream specs say it is.
