We've got our Silver Anniversary coming up in two weeks...I'll trade Silver for Aluminum!

We actually just missed out on a friends '53 FC last weekend...I found out it was for sale on Friday. Tried to talk myself out of it (we don't need 2 Airstreams, where would be put it, we would probably sell Maxwell, etc. ) and put off making "that phone call" about 24 hours. By the time we decided we had to have it, we called and it was already sold ~ Bummer! Would have made a terrific 25th Anniversary gift!

When I first got the bug, we were living in the city, in a townhouse with no off-street parking, on a one-way street that was so narrow you couldn't get a truck around the bend without driving on the curb, and certainly no place to put a truck or trailer! A 10-year-old Volvo sedan was our only transportation. But I wanted an Airstream.

So four years later we're living in a house on two acres, driving a double-cab pickup truck and a station wagon, and we're on our second Airstream! We got the first one in our aluminum anniversary year.

It's definitely addictive and it's also contagious. Our kids are already talking about having their own Airstream someday!

This thread has taken off like a jet, I to would love to have another Airstream to start on this year (not sell the Peppy) I keep looking at the 60's for some reason. Peppy needs a little brother or sister to keep him company.

I have it too!!

Rebel, Have owned the 65 Safari for a few years. Had to get the 67 Overlander too. You know that one trailer gets lonely in the yard!!

Truth be told, I try to stay off the forums otherwise I cannot get anything done. I went so far as to design my house and garage just for Gypsy. 10' plus ceiling and plenty of room to work on her. Right now she's getting no action after a 2500 mile trip to SoCAl and back. It is a toss up between finishing my house or giving her a face lift. I guess she'll have to age gracefully just like me!

We are both hooked. All we do is plan our next trip and accumulate junk for Lucy. We go get her at the storage lot and bring her home for some "project or cleaning" In reality, we get concerned that she is lonely with only some SOB's to keep her company.

Got It Bad, Too!

I couldn' agree with you more! We just experienced our first heavy rain of the year after buying our Bambi. This weekend I felt really weird not driving the hour over to where we have her stored at just check her out for leaks, make sure she is OK, etc.

You always have that nagging thought...did I leave a vent open, were all the windows shut tight, etc.?

Anyway, if I have to have an addition, "Aluminitus" is the one I want!

Maybe the Forum should start an series of local "Aluminitus Anonymous" chapters?

Hmmmmmmmmm. Heh, it is foggy and drzzly here in Northern California today. Too much time on my hands...this keeps up I will hit a four rivet level in ONE DAY!

Our Airstream will be the subject of this years homemade Christmas card. We will also spend Christmas (and Thanksgiving) in the Airstream.
