I probably spent a couple months. Maybe one month actually looking. It is a process that gets old and time consuming. I did not spend enough time because I got one with rear floor rot. However, research lead me in the direction of a rear bedroom model and that prevented me from having to do a complete gut and restoration.

Not sure on AS as there were none to purchase like new

I know on boats i looked 5 years for alum fully kitted rig like new nothing showed up in my state. AS we were not really serious dealer had brand new bambi 16 40k and got us pumped up on them. 2 years go by and did search and low and behold a 16bambi I kid you not used ran over to look at it was first to inspect, bought it. That was even at dealership, unit would have been gone for sure. Now I am finding some quirks and improving unit.

I was driving by a dealer daily on my way home from work seeing all the shiny trailers. I sais to myself "self ,I want one of those". Next thing you know DW and I are checking them out and seeing one we like. Next day DW is pushing me out the door to get it. The rest is good history. Sal.

Got hooked on the Pan American, but too long.
25' E Bauer, drooled all over one but storage too small, now the 27' extended E Bauer has made my mind up.

2 + years shopping, , ,

About 5 Minutes...

We were driving north on Route 17 through NC in 1996 when I saw an old Airstream with a FSBO sign parked at a filling station. I said, "Look, it's Haley's Comet" and pointed the other direction, but it was two late. About 5 minutes later, we owned Old #1, a 1976 Safari 23'.

Then, in 2001 while having Old #1 serviced at Oasis RV in Tucson, AZ, my wife wandered off to look at preowned Airstreams. About 5 minutes later, we owned Old #2, a 2000 Safari 27'.

Then, in 2006 as we read the Sunday paper we saw a Vintage Airstream for sale right here in Albuquerque, so we went to take a look. About 5 minutes later we owned Old #3, a 1976 Sovereign 31'.

Then in 2007 we took a four year break from all things Airstream. We sold the Sovereign, we sold Airstream Haven, we quit WBCCI, we even deleted Airstream Forums from our Favorites (Gasp).

Then in August of 2011 we learned about an upcoming NM Unit Rally at White Sands National in September.

It took about 5 minutes on the internet to find Old #4 for sale in Longmont, CO. It took a bit more internet searching to find a tow vehicle in Moriarty, NM. Because of my reputation as a troublemaker, the hardest and longest part was reinstating my WBCCI membership, probationary of course.
