Just purchased this Fiamma extender arm from eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/272144256969.

I adds approximately 10 inches of reach over the standard (block) for much better bike separation.

It will ship from the UK for $52.29.

I purchased my Fiamma D1 directly from Amazon UK. It cost me $62 (this included any tax/shipping charges) and came in about 1 - 2 weeks. Very easy to do - just point and click! Be careful and try to find your item being fulfilled by Amazon instead of from another company. I have found that I have less problems with the accuracy of Amazon's inventory accuracy and packing quality than that provided by some merchants (the exception being the mom and pop stores - they are great and fun to support).

Tagging into this thread do I can find these links again. Did anyone have any issues with getting the bike rack arm extensions? We need something for our unit and we would need them shipped to Canada

Thanks
Doug

This took about 10 days from the UK. Works well.

I wonder if we could buy the cover from the UK that we can't buy in the US?

The second time around I used rivets in their place and made oversized gaskets, sealed well with the A/S recommended roof sealant.
Could you describe this issue about 'wearing rounded holes'? These are the 8 #10 one inch long sheet metal screws that Fiamma was too cheap to include?

The sheet metal screws ride in the holes in the external aluminum skin and motion eventually makes them wear on the insides of the holes, eventually increasing their diameter. Rivets are more secure and don't round out the holes.

We too worry about our bikes, which is one of our main focuses when we camp. But in three years have had no problems. We use a strong locking cable and/or a U-lock and/or a 5/8" galvanized chain with a circular padlock (designed for locking storage units and very resistant to bolt cutters). We tarp them when in camp but not when traveling.
I have also fabricated a new extension arm out of 1" schedule 40 PVC, while it is not super strong it is more than equal to the aluminum on the original rack. The "end connections" are bolted on and fit quite securely.
