I think it is can-nab with a silent "n" in "can".
That is beautiful country out there.

Which part of Utah? Over in St George we always pronounced it kuh-nab, neither syllable accented. And the "kuh" wasn't guttural, as it is in "duh," but the pronounciation is the same.
By the way, how is the rainbow war going there?

For the boondocking crowd, there are some great camping locations along the south side of the highway going east out of town (12-20 miles), decent dirt roads into the junipers just a hundred yards on the other side of the fence. But don't stop there--go to the Paria area further east.
The map below, from Kanab to Lake Powell, shows the BLM land in yellow and state land in blue. Private is white. The area labeled East Clark Bench has both the famous "Wave" sandstone formation and Buckskin slot canyon. The trailhead BLM office at Paria Canyon and the main one further east towards Page are staffed by really first rate people.

Hi Zeppelinium:
Salt Lake City. Interesting that pronunciation varies within the state. Thanks for the boondocking info--very helpful. Have you done any boondocking around Canyonlands or Moab?
BTW, your photos are absolutely stunning!!
