How do I buy an Airstream and get it to Scotland?

Well depending on how fast you want to get it there after you buy you can use airfreight or a container.

I onced looked into buying MG'S and other english sports cars and shipping them here, wasn't hard place them in a container and declare them upon arrivial. Might be a little costly.

The option I'd considered so far was a below deck storage non containered but a container is interesting. I could use the container as well!

Hi,

Airstreams do not fit into the standard overseas containers due to their height. Besides, you don't get to keep the container.
Better to call a vehicle forwarder with experience to handle this. Underdeck is best.
Get a hold of a Hemmings Motor News and check the classifiedds, they have specialists doing this all the time with even strangerobjects than Airstram trailers. A friend of mine brought in a missile carrier ( less missiles) from Russia recently.
I believe it's a 13 ton Tatra with 12 huge wheels...... Should be able to get an airsteam shipped relatively painlessly. Don't forget to check your local laws and import requirements. Sometimes this is very costly.

Wally got all those Airstreams to Africa for the caravans somehow. And that was many years ago. Scotland is even closer...and much nicer.
Just be sure and put in a spare hook-up for when one of us appears at your stoop so we will have electricty to hook up to.

Bobby - Getting an Airstream to Scotland should not be a real problem. Cost a bundle, even for a canny Scotsman, but definately do-able. One problem you may not have considered is its size. Depending on your choice of Airstream, it may be too large (width & length) for the legal limits of what can be used on your roads. Another concern may be how you plan to tow the trailer. The generally smaller and lighter, vintage model Airstreams could be towed by a Discovery, but there is all sorts of discussion on this aspect that you should look into before you import your Airstream.

By the way, this is a great Forum for you to brouse and discover just about all you will need or want to know with reference to buying, repairing, using & loving an Airstream.
