History channel special on 16' CCD
I just watched the History channel's 1/2 hour special show on Airstreams this afternoon. Most of the show featured shots of a 16' CCD being built on the production line at the factory. Pretty cool. I haven't been on the factory tour at Airstream yet so it was neat to watch the construction order.
First the exterior side panels are put up and then the roof section is lowered onto the sides and riveted in place. After that the shell is picked up and lowered on top of the floor. Most of the windows are cut-out after the body is secured to the floor.

The History channel has a million different shows; did you catch the name of this one? Or what time/day?

Name of show....
It was "Hands on History".
Discussed the Airstream legacy and toured the factory in Ohio, and built a 16' CCD.
Was on Saturday, 25th October at 5:00 EDT.
I do not know when or if it repeats anytime soon.

I called A & E (which I think runs The History Channel).
I asked if they had the video for sale and they said no, but that they would add it to the list of tape that have been requested.
Also, the person who answered told me that in Vermont, they have rallys there and she recalled a bunch of silver campers around.

If anyone sees that the program is going to be re-run, can you please post it?! Wanted to watch i, but due to a time zone mix-up, I tuned in too late. Darn... Thanks, Leigh
PS I don't have cable, so need a little headsup, so can get to a house with cable hook up.

No, just the front window was the Classic, wrap-around type. I didn't realize Airstream manufactured one with Classic windows in the front AND the back!

The first pictures (pre-production) had the front and back, but when it went into production, only the front remained.

Saw the same special. Interesting to see how they build an Airstream.
Checked out the interior carfully (thanks to TiVo) good bit of the Bambi 16' Int. CCD and some good footage of the Int. 22 showing the desk and some of the construction.
It looked to me like the Bambi 16' did have the wrap around window on both the front and back. Hard to tell during the walk but the window did cover the background between the bath and the wardrobe. But at the end he pulls the Bambi away (Jeep Cherokee) and you see the back corner and the window is there.
The shot was just for the camera though as the Bambi was incomplete, no LP Gas tanks!
I think I'll keep this show for future review.

Tape it?
Can you tape off the TiVo?
I'll pay you handsomely if you do.....
Missed the show, too busy tinkering with the airstream.

No problem to make a tape, that is if I don't have to make a bunch of them. The idea of passing a single tape around seems like a good idea. I only have to make and mail one tape and so does everybody else.
Of course as soon as I make and mail it The History Channel will replay the show

Please put me on the list too? I've run across several people who saw the program and remarked about how informative it is.

Copywrite?
I suppose that as long as the tape is not being marketed, shown for admission, or sold for profit there is no copywrite violation?

Lending a tape for viewing that was taped off air does not result in a copyright issue. You are correct, as long as you do not charge for viewing, or sell the tape as a product you can lend it out all you like. Anything that was broadcast is normally considered as a public domain issue in this regard.
I am not an attorney, but have looked into this issue.

Chain Tape
Ok, have saved the show to tape and will try to send out today via US Post Office. It seems to me that "uwe" (suggested taping) is first followed by "jlawrence" (suggested chain) and then in order of request. Of course I only have control of who gets it first, it up to each person after that.
Here's the order so far:
"uwe"
"jlawrence"
"thenewkid64"
"MaShep"
"uwe" please give me an address and it migh go out today.

Please add me to the daisy chain list for viewing the tape.
In doing so, you will assist in my vindication with my wife for having missed making the recording!
Thanks,
Ken

Been so busy, didn't get back to this thread till today!.. Can I be added to your tape list? Missed show due to time change issue and would really like a view. I guess I would come after MaShep and unless someone else comes along, would then return to Tat. Thanks, Leigh
Whoops, 69charger must have been posting as i was writing.
