Help to Identify our new trailer

Hello everybody from a young couple that just got their first big Airstream project!!.
We got this project today and we were wondering if by the serial number next to the door this can be identified.
Serial # O23T9J251 Safari
On the back it has a Land Yacht insignia.
According to our extensive research online we found the that
O it supposed to stand for Overlander?
23 is the lenght (to the tongue?)
T twin bed
9 year(can this be a 69 or 59)
J Where was made
251 production number?
All this is supposed to be easier if we had a Title but the guy didn't have the title on hand.
Please help with this.
We will try to post some pictures if that will help to identify the trailer.

Welcome to the forums. I'll break out the Captain Power Decoder Ring...
O= Base model
23= Length in feet
T= Center twin beds
9= 1969 or 1979
J= Jackson Center, Ohio, factory
251= Sequential production number.

There are a couple of other things to check, as far as year. Does the trailer have a build plate riveted on the front center panel, near the tongue? It will give a production date. There's also the windows. A picture of the front of the trailer will tell for sure.

According to RJ Dial's site, the first digit should be either L (base model) or I (International trim). The three digit sequential unit indicates a 1969 trailer. Does it have a gray tank? If not, a 1969 if so, a 1979.

Looking at the pictures, a rear trunk, therefore a 1969. I have a 1979 without the trunk. Also my water heater is on the curb side.

Definitely a 1969. It has the distinctive front wrap windows with 3 square corners which are only found on 1969s. A 79 would have 2 square corners and a 4 digit sequential number.

For those that may not be in the know, "O" is the base model, "L" is the Land Yacht, or mid-grade trailer, and "I" is the International, or top of the line at that time. There were very few "O"'s built. Most were "L"'s and "I"'s. A couple of years later came the Excella, first letter "E".

We must confess that we are in total shock with the amount of responses!
Thanks to everybody.
Unfortunately there is no plate in the front near the tongue with the production date.
But according to few members it seems to be a 1969.

Thanks again for everybody's input.
At this point we are getting to a conclusion that is a 1969 for sure?
Also the interior is mostly gutted with the exception of the rear bathroom.
Now here is the question:
Wen re-building or re-doing the interior what is the best route?
1) trying to get as most original that we can? And if so. Only original parts can be placed? or
2) Re-doing everything with new parts respecting the original lay-out?
What is also the best option in a long term for re-selling value?
We will post some pics of the interior.

On the subject of reselling there is not a profit to be made. Restoring or renovating a vintage airstream is a labor of love. The thing to do is make it yours and enjoy it. When it comes a time to sell it, the right person will come along who will love it.

In a way you are lucky it's been "mostly gutted." On my projects, I have been a slave to restoration to original condition because they were too nice to gut and renovate. How I would enjoy restoring the exterior and renovating an empty interior.
