Help!!!! Need co-pilot Chicago-Georgia

I need a co-pilot for my trip to pick up Shell Shock. Lori (my wife) has been put on something like bed rest. I do not want to bring her on a long and possible stressful trip.

So if anyone near the Chicago metro area is interested in a trip to Georgia to pick up a trailer with me let me know.

If I have no one by noon on the 24th I will put off the pick up till I can make new arrangement.

Figures, I have the tires, hitch and brake controller, but no one to go with me. I do not want to do this on my own.

Tedd ~

It might help folks step up if you give an idea of your timing & schedule for the trip...

I know I wouldn't want to leave at noon on Christmas Eve, especially with the weather predicted over the next couple of days. Is that your plan?

Sorry Shari, my bad.

The plan is to leave around 7am on the 26th for Chattanooga.
27th leave Chattanooga to pick up trailer, and return to Chattanooge that night.
28th leave for Chicago, expecting to get back to Chigao area on or about the 30th.

I'm willing to pay the way of my woodbee co-pilot including room and board and food.

It is a done deal. I have a co-pilot and am in good hands. Thank you.

I will have to keep a log of this trip and share it with you.

Okay. I'll play. I bet your co-pilot is Santa, worn out by all the Christmas rush and ready to let someone else take up the main drive. On this trip, he can sit back and enjoy the ride and company, "till" he's ready to head back Up North by New Year's Eve. Happy trails! And we hope all is well with Lori. Best wishes for all in this adventure. Merry Christmas!

May as well let it be known that we are teaming up for the trip. Can't pass up an oppotunity for such an interesting excursion. Hopefully, Murphy will leave us alone - - haven't had too many recent encounters, and it seems like most such encounters have involved travel along either Interstate 80 or Interstate 90 - - my travels along Interstate 24 have always been pleasantly uneventful.

I could carry my Dell laptop along, but am afraid that it wouldn't do us much good either. I don't have either a wireless or cell modem, and my cell phone is now eleven and one-half years old (purchased it in July of 1993 after my first one was destroyed in the flood of 1993) so it probably wouldn't support a cell modem if I had one.

I don't know. It is webpage, and although it may load slow if you are on dial-up, I was hoping your patience would be rewarded. Any one else having problems seeing it?

Here is a link to the picture file itself. Please let me know if that works.

The direct link to photos worked, but other did not. Nice looking trailer, when you don't see the damaged part. Hope you have a safe trip back. Nancy

Journey at 3/4 Point Plus!

Greetings All!

The excursion to retrieve Tedd's (till) newly acquired '67 Overlander is at or beyond the 3/4 point for the journey. We departed Chattanooga approximately 9:00 a.m. (CST), today, Tuesday, with arrival at the White Haven Welcome Center in Paducah, KY approximately 12:40 p.m. (CST). Timing was such that Tedd was able to obtain his temporary registration for the coach before dropping me off at my home in Anna, IL at about 4:00 p.m - - it takes four to eight weeks for Illinois to process registration/title applications and send out "permanent" plates.

I believe that Tedd's plan was to stop at Mt. Vernon, IL for the night and continue on home after first light tomorrow. The drive from Mt. Vernon to Tedd's home should be about five to six hours.

The trip to pick up the coach (one Sunday) was puntuated by traffic slow-downs due to several instances of "involuntary parking" along Interstate-24 (through most of Kentucky and Northern Tennessee) - - the after-effects of the winter storm had left periodic patches of ice and packed snow that sent more than a few motorists into the median or shoulders where they became mired in the snow and mud. Our arrival in Nashville, Tennessee was punctuated by traffic delays resulting from a concert being held downtown - - an alternate route allowed us to circumvent much of the traffic backlog. During this first leg of the excursion, we thoroughly enjoyed the winter scenes along the route - - there were numerous ices formations to see on the rock formations that lined the highway in several spots in Tennessee as well as more than a few ices covered trees and shrubs shimmering in the sun.

As a passenger on the return trip, I can report that there were two surprieses for me. The first was how beautifully Tedd's Caprice Classic handled the Overlander - - I had expected that the coach would pose more diffiiculties for the 5.0 Liter on grades (based on my experiences with a slightly older 5.0 Liter Oldsmobile), but the Caprice just breezed through its job (I believe the steepest grade slowed our progress to something around 45 MPH) The second surprise was the fuel economy returned by the Caprice - - preliminary calculations indicated a low of 10 MPG with the Overlander with a high (through our stop at my home in Anna) of 13 MPG. The Reese Dual Cam performed its tasks exactly as designed and advertised.

Since I am something of a klutz with tools, I tried to stay out of the way as much as possible as the coach was readied for its trip to Illinois. The driveway surrounding the coach was a beehinve activity for several hours on Monday as the coach was readied for its journey to Illinois. I can't begin to say why I didn't take photos of the activity - - my camera was packed in the tow vehicle, but it never dawned on me to get the camera and take some photos.

Kevin
