Hey all, I have been meaning to ask this for some time. I have a 1972 Excella and next to the front door is this sticker. I can't tell if this means that our trailer has caravanned to Mexico or if a previous owner lived in Mexico any ideas??????

"Amistad" means "Friendship" and "a traves" means "thru". My guess is the missing word fromt the right hand corner is "Turisimo" which means "tourism". Don't know, just a guess on what's missing. Which in total would mean something like "friendship thru tourism"
So, I would say it's either from a caravan sponsered by the now defunct Guadalajara Mexico Unit of the WBCCI (but it would have most likely have said WBCCI on it) or one of those old insurance stickers for the tourist vacations you would buy when visiting Mexico.
Whatever it is...it's pretty cool! If only our trailers could talk!

Doesnt that name amistad have to do with a revolt during early times like 1839 to about 1845 or close to. Something to do with possibly slavery or
something???

BTW I am very much a Buffett fan. The S/V Wandering Spirit listed below will most likely be renamed License to Chill or maybe Miss-Inclined (Guy Clark ) after Katrina repairs are complete.
Just got tickets to see Jimmy Buffett in Vegas in October - boy it was difficult to get half-decent seats!!
Have never seen him in concert - anyone here been to see him live?

Yes, I have attendee Buffett concerts since we both had hair. Jimmy has had a love affair with New Orleans for many years. Jimmy would tour with Jerry Jeff Walker and play all the venues. I saw him at the 84 Worlds Fair, which was held here in New Orleans. The last concert I went to was about 5 years ago and the young girl asked what was going on with all the crazy old folks. I have a 12 year old son who I will take to is next concert; I have to pass on the fun.
If you notice I have S/V Wandering Spirit listed in my signature if it were not for Jimmy Buffett I doubt that I would own a Sailboat.
Enjoy the concert and I am sure you will have the time of your life. At the last Rally I went to I met a man whose son works as a grip and he told me Jimmy would do a concert in New Orleans in the near future as his son was going to work the show. I hope so.

Make that two!!! We named our Airstream "Changes in Lattitudes" because that's what we wanted from her.

Yes, the last time my wife and I went, the guy sitting next to my wife leaned over before the concert started (almost fell off of his seat, he was barely drinking age, BTW) and appologized in advance for anything he and his friends might say or do as they all had been drinking all afternoon. Then about mid-concert he threw-up on my wife's right foot. I could tell he had been drinking Miller Light...didn't like beer before that concert and I still don't...stick mostly to Margaritas. Oh well, you know that wrinkles only go where the smiles have been.
My Airstream has a very well stocked Margarita bar by the way. You can get mango, strawberry, watermellon, peach, even original lime. Where's my lost shaker of salt?

But - the million $$ question is - how do you make 'em? Frozen or on the rocks? No rim, salt rim or sugar rim? The list is endless...
I'm an "on the rocks salted rim" kind of margarita fan - hubby and I get into humourously heated arguments w/r to how a marg ought to be made...

We prefer ours on the rocks with sugar on the rim or no rim. I have had the desert pear margarita from Longhorn Steaks, yum!, but I haven't got the recipe. But I got their recipe for watermellon; it's our official camping cocktail. I use either Don Julio silver taquila or, gee I never can remember the one I have in the Airstream right now...it's a square bottle with a round cork and lime green ribbon...too many margaritas I guess. Anyway, I have modified LH Steaks watermellon recipe to our taste. It is my wife's favorite by far.
If interested:
My recipe:
1 oz. silver taquilla
1 oz. watermellon twist vodka
4 oz. monin or rose's watermellon mixer
Makes two servings
Longhorn's:
1/2 oz. monin or rose's watermellon mixer
1 oz. silver taquilla
1 oz. watermellon twist vodka
5 oz. sweet-n-sour mix
Makes two servings
I don't know where they get their watermellon sugar, though. The server said they get it in a big box.
I used to like frozen until recently. I still like my strawberry margaritas frozen, though. My wife was even going to get me a JB frozen drink maker or whatever it's called for father's day until I told her I preferred on the rocks. Then she got me a 20" LCD for the Airstream instead. Makes sinse doesn't it...my gift, family gets to use it.
BTW, what's in the prickly pair?

Get some nice, ripe prickly pears - also known as cactus pears. Peel them and chop into cubes, about the size of a cherry. There's tons of little seeds, but ignore for now.
Transfer to a glass bowl.
Add regular white sugar: for every 4 prickly pears, add 1/2 cup sugar.
Start to stir, the pear pieces will begin to break down immediately.
Stir with gusto, then let it sit for about 10 minutes or so.
Strain (this is the most boring part) through regular sieve, mashing the bits with a wooden spoon to get all the juice/syrup out.
That's it for the prickly pear end of things.
To make the margarita, I do everything as per a lime on the rocks marg (I use the Jose Cuervo ready-made lime mix) in a shaker, and add a few dollops of the prickly pear syrup before shaking.
The addition of the syrup turns the drink into the most marvellous shade of crimson (I always hint to my husband that I'd love a cashmere sweater in that exact colour ). I also do the whole salt rim thing too.
I make small batches of the syrup - it can keep in the fridge for up to a week, in a lexan bottle, ready for action!
I also like to make blue margs - I make the usual limes ones and add a dollop of Blue Curacao. Yum!
