'Twas the night of Thanksgiving
I can't take credit for this one it was sent to me from a fellow Airstreamer and I enjoyed it, so I thought I'd share it with you.
'Twas the night of Thanksgiving,
But I just couldn't sleep I tried counting backwards,
I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned -
The dark meat and white
But I fought the temptation
With all of my might.
Tossing and turning
With anticipation
The thought of a snack
Became infatuation.
So, I raced to the kitchen,
Flung open the door
And gazed at the fridge,
Full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey
And buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, Beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling
So plump and so round, '
Til all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling,
Floating into the sky
With a mouthful of pudding
And a handful of pie.
But, I managed to yell
As I soared past the trees....
Happy eating to all -
Pass the cranberries, please.
May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes 'n gravy
Have nary a lump,
May your yams be delicious
May your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs.
May your Thanksgiving be blessed!!

I have heard two versions of the song, one was live, and went like I quoted. The other version, I guess the studio version, had the quote you quoted.
Either version is ideal for a DJ that doesn't want to stop eating his turkey to flip records (or CD's, these days).

AND creating a public nuisance!
Woody Guthrie was played by a Joseph Boley (not an Airstream owner).

Hi, folks,
Well, I saw my oldest relative holding my youngest relative today, and there is 94 years in between them.
With the five generations that this represents, I was honored to participate, and I am honored to be the oldest grandson, not to mention that my youngest uncle is my contemporary.
I also got some public sass from my grandmother, which I enjoyed immensely (too much to tell, really).
My oldest uncle said the blessing, and then we feasted.
It was a GOOD Thanksgiving. I think it was the best so far.

Every Thanksgiving you have not had to attend a relative's funeral since the previous Thanksgiving, is a great Thanksgiving.

We have had year after year of November tragedys the last few years, usually just before Thanksgiving someone has fallen ill or passed away, so this year we were holding our breath - nothing happened! In fact we had a new baby to meet at one house (5mth old cousin Oliver) and baby BIRDS at another house (my other cousin has taken up raising parrots), and it was great fun to see my 84 year old Grandmother, who is disabled from a stroke a few years ago, playing with the baby birds. She has always loved birds but doesn't have any of her own anymore. So we all had a very good thanksgiving too! I hope everyone had so much fun!
