Me and Wally Byam...
...Happen to share a birthday.
Today.
So if there are any pretty girls out there that are willing to plant a kiss on this slightly leathered, somewhat wiskered cheek, I'll welcome it.
It's the big Five Oh this year.
Meanwhile, I'm off to the lake here.
I hope everyone has a safe fun filled weekend.
P.S.
Fly the Flag.

Ultradog, I thought everyone was partying because of our wedding anniversary. MaryLou and I have been married 4 years today. For me, I guess the 4th was the day I lost my independance.
Happy 4th everbody.

took a huge tree of a lady's sob motorhome, punched three holes in her roof.
needed to cut tree off her service wires, finished off the tree so she could take it to the dealer tomorrow.

Happy Independence Day to All!
We had our "home town" parade, and are waiting for the fireworks tonight. NOAA is forecasting some nasty weather for tonight and tomorrow night across eastern Iowa. Sounds like a good potential of T-storms with up to 80 mph winds, heavy rains, and up to two-inch hail possible.
And dopey us, we're camping in the A/S this weekend!!!
If any of you know any good anti-nasty weather prayers, chants, incantations, or other ways of halting bad weather, say them for us!
Hope all of you have a great 4th. Celebrate the freedoms that we enjoy in the U.S.A.!
Roger

A wet one in Austin
We (the banjo band) played for a parade in north Austin this morning. We were set to play out under a big live oak, but the rain forced us under the portico of the school (Doss Elementary). We were packed in there like sardines, but it was fun playing until a sudden downpour stole our audience away. We then played for a party at the rehabilitation hospital. We ere to have had a third gig today, but it was cancelled because of the weather.
Peter, I guess you must have been in a different parade.
Best news was 2 1/2" of rain fell where I live. I can almost hear my new trees growing.

It's hot in Templeton, California!
The temp just hit 100 here a few minutes ago. Looks like we'll be BBQing later today after the sun goes down.
At least the patio is ready for the festivities ... and it is a dry heat.

John, we first hit the Allendale Parade at 9 am and went on to the North Shoal Creek one (our neighborhood) at 11 am. We won a pound of starbucks coffee at the last one.
Here is the funny part. At first parade were 2 well known democratic political characters. The TV news channel covering the event is known to have a very republican slant and used the parade and the 2 democrats to bring up the outstanding redistricting issue which recently has caused the democrats to flee to Oklahoma. Their coverage of the parade included everything except the decorated Airstream. We suspect that it looked to presidential and would have given the wrong impression to the viewers. (As in: look the democrats are at a parade with real american values)
But then again it could have been me

Parades
Peter,
We played for the Allamdale parade a couple of times in the past, riding on a flatbed truck. This year, we were played at the finish area of the parade on Far West, at Doss Elementary. We got that gig because the wife of one of our members teaches at Doss. Since we are a volunteer group, anything a member is involved in gets first choice.
They estimated 800 to 1000 folks would hear us, but, due to the weather, I think far fewer folks showed up.
It was a lot more fun than sitting in that 11-mile traffic jam trying to get to Wllie's picnic like a few thousand folks did. I could have predicted that when I saw the stream of traffic flowing through Oak Hill and out TX 71.
