Question George, WA - Labor Day?

Anyone else planning on being there??

Yes, we are ridiculous DMB fans and will be attending for the weekend...

Would be fun to see more silver!

All the best -

Ok, there are too many TLA's these days...

I assume you mean Dave Matthews Band since they like to play the Gorge at George... I would like to be there but my AS is not yet ready to travel. I have lived in Eastern Washington all my life and the Gorge is a great concert venue. Have you been there before?

TDM TLA's?? Never...

Yes - The Dave Matthews Band. We first made the trip to the Gorge in '06 and now it's become an annual event. Great venue and super fun people - although have to admit we do stay on the so called 'premier' side of the grounds since we're not quite the all-nighter youngin's we used to be!

We're going to spend the week prior at Lake Easton SP - ever been?

We will be there .... my 4th year now ... love Dave and his shows...

We are staying in Vantage, last year we stayed at a campground whos name evades me, across from the state ground ... it is closed this year.

the other two years we stayed at the gorge ... I like having water to dip in, especially when its hot!

where are you guys staying?

Boondocking at the Gorge this year... Haven't stayed in Vantage - do let us know how it is!

We considered Wild Horse, but didn't see much benefit w/o hook-ups.

In '06 we tented and it was HOT so i can certainly see the appeal of the water. Hopefully see y'all there...

Best -

Have never been to a concert at the gorge. Love the area, checked it out last September. We stayed at the State Park called Wanapam. It is next to Vantage and the Ginko Petrified forest. We met people there that had been to Concerts at the Gorge. It is a beautiful state park. Great views. Want to go back soon!

The Gorge at George is awesome. We saw Steely Dan's return concert there back in mid 90s. Fantastic. Recall that it gets almost as hot as AZ in that part of WA.

Hey Gerr -

Would you recommend venturing out from the 'concert haze' to see the petrified forest? Sounds quite cool.

Hi all -

Just a quick note for anyone that may be interested...

DMB is streaming their concert from Outside Lands (San Fran) tomorrow night on YouTube.

Best!

We just spent a few nights there a couple of weeks ago. It's one of our favorite state parks, with lots to do: hiking, biking, boating, swimming, fishing, etc. The lake is beautiful (and refreshing on a hot day!) From there you can easily venture out to Cle Elum or Roslyn (very fun if you were a fan of the TV show Northern Exposure).

Hi Mel -

Well, after picking up a souvenir alternator on the way in, we're here enjoying the shade of the pines surrounding Lake Easton - nice park & friendly people. While there is definitely some interstate noise - we're choosing to think of it as the sound of a good, hearty mountain stream... Also taking your advice and checking out Rosalyn/Cle Elum this afternoon.

Thanks for the tip!

Caravan next year???

Hey all -

Just a thought we thought we'd toss out there...

Would anyone be interested in a caravan/rally for next year's concerts???

I'm sure there are some other Dave fans among us - especially when playing one the very best venues in the country.

We're looking across roughly 15000 units and were the only silver here with the exception of a very cool old Silver Streak.

Let us know if y'all would be interested!

Two sightings...

Just an update as we recover from 4 days of Gorge fun -

Departing on Monday morning we did spy two other streams as the crowds receded...

(the third pic was us - just thought it was cool when the rainbows appeared)

Rainbows at Lewiston, ID

That is a great pic with the rainbows! I got one overlooking the Lewiston, Idaho valley while on a trip to Pomeroy, Wa but not with the airstream.

The shows were great - especially Sunday IMHO... Even with Dave noticeably resting his voice after the SLC attempt, the jams were solid!

As soon as next year's shows are confirmed - we'll get to serious planning.

I hear ya on the scenery and water access, but have to say that the continuous 'festival vibe' at the venue has a draw for us. Once everyone settled in and got situated a few guys in BIG moho's circled their wagons, put up a full dance floor, PA system, and stage complete with lighting where all sorts of people stopped by for impromptu jam sessions. Then hosted karaoke and dancing into the wee hours after each show.

Best -
