Sounds about right. I had done some research a while back when I was pondering the diesel pickup. Rebates help as Pick points out, but for any truck right now, those same rebates work against the value of the truck in the long run. I've been looking at prices of trucks for several years prior to getting a 2004 during the model year closeouts. What I found was that back when rebates were not as common, trucks (used) really held their value very well. Lately, as I look for grins at the used market for trucks, I find that trucks (and maybe cars, but I didn't pay close attn to the car markets) aren't holding their values as much as they once did. Heck, GM right now has rebates already on the 2005s, not as much as the 04s, but still, the '05 trucks have only been out approx a month (maybe a few weeks more).
One thing seems pretty certain though, gas vs. diesel conversation aside...prices will most likely never go back to where they were.
