fuse burn outs
The 30Amp fuse controlling my electric jack keeps burning out on my new Bambi. Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, how was it rectified other than to keep replacing the fuse.
thanks, Ed

My jack also blew fuses when my Safari was new. I ended up bringing it in twice and they couldn't find a problem. As I was hitching up at the dealer's it blew a fuse. They ended up replacing the jack. Later on they called and told me they found a short in the jack.

JACK BLOWING FUSE
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM LAST WEEK AT LAGUNA SECA WITH MY 99 SAFARI THAT I BOUGHT 2 WEEKS AGO. THE AIRSTREAM DEALER INSTALLED THE BARKER 3000 ELECTRIC JACK FOUND ON AIRSTREAM INTERNATIONALS, IT ALSOBLEW THE BULB AT THE TIME OF SALE. THE PROBLEM WAS AT THE CONNECTION OF THE MAIN POWER WIRE TO THE JACK. IT SEEMS THE WIRE NUT CONNECTION WAS LESS THAN COMPATIBLE WITH THE TWO WIRE TYPES USED (ONE COPPER WIRE GOING TO ALUM OR STEEL WIRE.) THAT CORRODED A SMALL BLACK SPOT BURNT/ETCHED INTO THE WIRE CONNECTION UNDER THE WIRE NUT AND CAUSED INTERMITTENT CURRENT THERE. IT WAS FIXED PROMPTLY BY OUR HAPPY GO LUCKY SANTA CLARA UNIT TREASURER ALDO PENA AT THE LAGUNA SECA RALLY. CHECK THIS CONNECTION OUT UNDER THE WIRE NUT. IT MUST BE SECURED TIGHTLY,ESPECIALLY WITH TWO DIFFERENT WIRE TYPES CONNECTING WITH EACH OTHER . ANY LOOSENESS OF THE WIRE NUT ALLOWS ARCING AND DEVELOPMENT OF A BURNT OR BLACK SPOT ON THE WIRE FOILING THE CONNECTION. THOUGHT ID PASS THIS ON TO YOU. IT ALL LOOKED OKAY TO ME ON THE OUTSIDE/NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE IN THERE.

Ditto that blown fuse thing. I just put a new Atwood power jack on The Rig & it worked fine for several times, then WHAM it blew the fuse. Replaced the fuse & it has worked for the several times since. I did notice that when it blew the fuse I was at the high end of the extension, so thought that might have been the problem. It sure beats cranking anyday. Just will have to keep a number of extra fuses on hand, unless I can come up with a fix.
Best,
