VIKING...I had the same thought...sorta.

Print a "Bill of sale" with as much info as you can.
Go to the current property owner and offer him a cash
deal. If yes, have him sign the "bill of sale" and drag the heap home.
Sort the rest out later.

and thank goodness for THAT.

for all we know U might be trying to find the owner for nefarious reason.

OR maybe this is all just foreplay to an eeeebay listing.

the ISSUE is u r trying to FIND a PERSON (who knows why) that may not want to be found, and came here for that?

it's a LESSON folks here should learn B4 giving out contact information WITHOUT the contact's permission.
____________

the questions asked are just strange...

"where's the registration kept?" to get the owners address?

well WHERE DO YOU keep your vehicle registrations ??

i might just wanna stop by and shop your stuff...
___________

eventually some1 will be posting HOW TO ILLEGALLY take this trayla...

oh, wait i see that's already happening.

No one is talking about illegally taking this trailer, this guy is trying to determine who is the owner of an abandoned trailer, which is sitting in the weeds with vines growing in it. As you pointed out, this sort of thing has been discussed before, it's not that uncommon a situation. The trailer having belonged to a business which no longer exists certainly complicates things.

If you know the name of the company that owns it, and they are out of business, you can check state records. Many states have information about corporations and other business entities, even ones who have gone out of business on the Secretary of State's website. Trade names can also be checked. You can look up corporations that were dissolved for nonpayment of annual fees decades ago and find out from their documents (also posted online) who the principals in the company were, addresses, and such. It might lead to dead ends or not, but it's a place to start. I expect that because Cal. is such a big state, there will be many similar names. Some states have trade names ("d/b/a's", "doing business as" are another name for it) at the county level instead.

These are all public records.

States have abandoned property laws that allow someone to make a claim on property. Usually that means the state takes possession in some manner and if no one claims the property in some specified time, the finder can have it. This can take quite a lot of time, but every state handles it differently. Since it sits on someone's land, he probably has the best abandoned property claim and if he doesn't care, you may be stuck unless you can convince his wife to take care of the claim and you help with the paperwork. You could buy it conditioned on the people receiving clear title someday and I would think that would be the best way to handle it. Any money would be handed over upon receiving the title. Make sure you specify how it is to be removed.

That's the easy part. It may have to be trucked out of there on a flatbed and very carefully because it may be in such bad condition it could fall apart. I haven't gotten to the hard part yet: restoring it. It looks like you like a challenge.

but you cannot verify even 1 item in your post OR the o.p.

and it HAS been suggested that POSSESSION is the route, which means TAKING IT. see post 14/15.

NO one here knows IF it's abandoned OR if the owner WANTS to be found.

and NO one here knows what the o.p. is up to (no offense) except the stated goal if FINDING a PERSONS address and phone #.

cheers

Knocking on doors doesn't hurt. Looking in a plat book isn't being sneaky. County websites these days have owner names, assessments and property tax info -- way TMI than what ya'd need to ask, "That's a different 'Stream. Know anything about it?"

actually KNOCKING on doors is an issue IF the property owner doesn't want the KNOCK...

and apparently THIS one doesn't.

the o.p. acknowledges he/she/it are NOT ENTITLED to the info.

so coming HERE to find out HOW to get a person's NAME ADRESS AND PHONE NUMBER is...

silly at best

and an INVASION of another persons PRIVATE life, with WHO KNOWS WHAT goat at the worst.

and FACILITATING this should NOT be condoned or encouraged on this site.

the OWNER HERE of THIS SITE gives a LOT of lip service to protecting member PRIVACY...

yet THIS THREAD is ALL about FINDING someone and INVADING that privacy.

it's NOT about a simple "inquiry" that part has been DONE already.

and the poster has ALTERED the photos before posting them, while seeking HELP, FINDING contact info.

If he's planning to steal it, documenting that on a public forum is probably the worst way to go about it.

allowing posts THAT SUGGEST HOW TO DO ILLEGAL ACTs is Inappropriate here.

go back and read the o.p. posts ONLY.

clearly you are missing the STATED GOAL of the o.p.

the TRAILER connection is IRRELEVANT.

but ALLOWING a post to stand that suggests HOW to STEAL IT and figure out the title later is irresponsible.

the title of this thread SHOULD BE...

HELP ME FIND A PERSON and THEIR ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER.

with the subtitle ...

"i'm really not entitled to the info according to EVERY LEGAL agency, but the AIR forums can help!"

cheers

If I wanted to "steal" this stupid trailer then I would have done it 4 years ago when I started the thread. At which time the info I gave was what was straight from the property owner. I have found out way more since then. I believe I know who the trailer is titled to. I have been unable to come up with an address for them. I have no way of confirming this.

2airishuman, This is a real simple deal and you taking it way over board. I surely hope this is not how you welcome all new people to this forum.

The reason I posted the doctored up pic for one is because I DO CARE ABOUT PEOPLES PRIVACY. I in no way wanted to draw attention to anyone else. Plus it is how I envisioned it after fixing it up. Not to mention there were trees and a big hole in the side.

I came across this thing and have taken a liking to it. I think it would make a cool camper and be a fun project. I can in no way afford anything in comparable or smaller size. I could manage to pic up a clunker and do some work here and there even if it is a long term project. I have no interest in stealing it or parts and will have no part of such. I have no intentions of ebaying it. I believe that it is repairable and would fit what I would like to have. Plain and simple.

Oh and by the way, I am welcome at the property owners.

Thank you and good night.

we agree it IS real simple.

you've got a NAME and want their address and or phone number.

and in 4 YEARS u haven't been able to get that info legally?
_____________

so again i just don't understand how ANYONE here can get that info for you...

and i SURE DON'T wanna see it posted in THIS thread.

which has happened several times in other threads,

where CONTACT info has been shared publicly withOUT permission FROM the party in question.
_____________

there is NOTHING unwelcoming in these posts...

but there are suggestions on HOW TO TAKE POSSESSION,

and those posts have NOT been removed, which bothers me.

o'63 gave u the obvious approach and without suggesting anything illegal.

_____________

and as i mentioned earlier the members HERE have NO way to confirm YOUR motivation for finding these people good or bad.

the fact that u r still looking 4 years later creeps ME out even more.

If I wanted to steal it why would I be trying to locate the legal owners?
