Angry alaska shock

i got a big jolt.....started to think about taking the trip instead of dreaming...in just 2 years...the alaska marine hwy has jumped from $40 a foot, to $61. originally i had planned one way by sea and one by land....looks like the alaska hwy up and back now....
who knows with hidden tarriffs and all the other B.S., one would be looking at over$3000...has anybody driven the A.H. recently?
I ballparked it cost wise at about $500 one way for diesel.....
norby.

I haven't driven it in 19 years. It still had over 300 miles of gravel and road graders were pulling MH through the mud holes. However, my folks still live in Fairbanks and have been back and forth with there SOB MH with the past couple of years. The road is much better but they still have a big crack and several gravel dings from their trip. Send me a PM and I'll give you their email.

$500 for fuel would rock, so much for 2003 prices huh?

Perhaps, now that China isn't hoarding diesel to fuel their generators in case of power outages during the Olympics, maybe the price will at least dip down to about the price of regular grade gasoline again!

Its down to $3.99 here today. I hate to say it, but the airstream may not be going on the Alaska trip with me.
