Hi Sam and welcome. The numbers I imagine you're referring to must be the big red ones on the ends of the trailer. They were the membership numbers of a former owner in the WBCCI, or the Wally Byam Caravan Club International. Wally designed the first Airstr3am in 1936.

It took me a few tries but i found our AIR number. Wow 12102 is a lot of people on this, and many more are joining everyday. Good job people, keep it up.

Yes, but...
I'm not anything close to an expert on WBCCI but the numbers were sequential for quite a long time. Because numbers were getting so high, WBCCI began to reassign numbers as previous members became inactive. Therefore you'd almost need a WBCCI catalog from the years in which your Airstream was registered. Another Forums member probably has some older catalogs and could PM you if they find something (Please avoid placing personal information of 3rd parties into a thread. Thank you!).
