I like the upgrade: it's cleaner and easier to navigate. Uploading multiple photos/attachments is really sweet.
Just discovered the archive feature at the bottom (was it there before?) for a quick reference to posts: A+.
Dislikes: I prefer viewing "most recent poster" rather that "post originator."
I miss the home page button on the top. Also I miss the photo button to members' galleries, and most of all, I miss the rivits - just earned my third rivit after months of hard work posting! What's an airstreamer to do without rivits?

The thread viewing feature only works for the particular thread. As soon as you go to "home", it's gone.

airstreamphotos.com
How does the upgrade effect airstreamphotos.com? Just tried unsuccessfully to log in there. I was hoping there might be some improvements in doc. management and maybe even larger allowable file uploads.

post originator
I've change my mind on this one since I've discovered that you can scroll over the title of the post to see the most recent poster. Nice.

Please list last poster, not thread originator
I'd still much rather see who made the most recent post to a thread than the person who long ago began the thread. I don't care who originated any thread: I do care to read answers from people who have something useful to contribute. I don't like having to finger the thread title to get this information; it should be obvious at a glance. If I see a post by a person who has something to say, I'll read that post even if the thread is one that usually is "off topic" for me personally. Other threads may look interesting from their title, but digging down to the the latest post can be a disappointment if you then discover it is from a hot air specialist. I'll reserve other comments until I do some more stumbing around the new web site format. Andy, thanks for maintinaing the Forum that brings me much joy and useful knowledge.

Fred,
There are two ways. See Cruiser's comment just above yours about holding mouse over the topic. Also if you click on "New Posts" in your User CP box you will get them that way too.

I will be working my hardest to get things as close as I can to "back the way they were". Thanks for being patient over the weekend and during this week while I "fine tune" all the features.
This was a major software upgrade and we're lucky to have it behind us. Karma, Rivet Titles and thumbnail photos will be back very soon. I'll be going through the old site to make it look and feel as close to "the way it was" as possible.
Off to work....

I will be working on the photo site right after the forums are tuned up. I'll get the album management working again. As far as file size, resizing them is a very processor intensive process, we can experiment with some, but I don't want to bog the server down each time a large file is processed. I'll look into monitoring processor usage during an upload and try to figure out the largest size possible.

I rather like the new software! Not only is it nice that you can simply click "new posts" to see what's up, but now you can simply put your mouse over the lead-in of threads and see the initial post via a mouseover. Nice touch!

I also would rather see the last one to post rather than the originater of a thread. Both would be a good addition.
Bob,

One operative way around this would be;
To view who has posted a reply last or, replied to the original thread you would need to select the "Display Modes" and, then drop select "Switch to Thread Mode" This sets up a "tree" sequence of replies to the original thread and, shows you the order of replies, who made the replies, etc.
Then, you simply scroll your mouse wheel down in that window to view and, chose to read the reply/replies of your choice. Try it~!
Of course, by the time some folks figure this out, Andy may well have it fixed to function like the old method..(present company included)lmao
ciao
53FC
btw, this is one setting that doesn't revert back to the original setting after you click/surf onto another thread.. Makes reading all comments contained within a single thread easier~!!

Just got back from a week at the Region 9 rally and the change really knocked my eyes out.
On balance, I like it although I'm going to have to take a while to get used to it.

There are many charming changes in the site that make info buzz around much more quickly. that is a GOOD thing. you need to investigate the hyperlinks & dropdown menus to see what the options are. You can customize & search & view & spy and STILL post all those amazing breakthroughs that you no doubt share with the forum to increase the storehouse of knowledge.
If you have specific questions to answer to replace the dire prediction and sentence-fragment sputter that you've contributed so far, please speak up. operators are on call.

You rock, Andy! I see you've already implemented some of the little changes we were asking for. Thanks!

I ditto Steps comments....I was shocked how fast some suggestions for changes came about. Now that I've been on it for a day, it's becoming more and more familiar.
I should be up to 5000 posts by next month!

post originator
I was starting to like the "post originator" feature because it emphasized the thread rather than the individual reply. Last night (with "post originator") I noticed that topics stayed visible longer, rather than being lost in a flurry of individual posts. I know I miss valuable info on threads that I never see when I'm not logged on for a perid of time. This may be the case more often as more people join and post. Besides, I found it easy enough to check the recent post with the new mouseover feature.
Don't want to drive Andy crazy by suggesting he change it again after already putting it back the way it was...
But what the heck: Andy, can you change it back to show post originator?
Post originator, pre-post originator, or post-pre-post originator, however you like it, it's a great forum!

an so we continue to learn
I am just greatful that Andy didn't take all the harping and whining to heart and pull the plug on this joyride! I am still playing with all the new features...I was still playing with the features on the old board If you guys would quit suggesting changes I might actually be able to get a chance to learn how to use this one.
But anyway! I am just thankful that Andy is providing us with this board and the massive amount of bandwidth and server space it must consume.
If he wants to make the background purple and green it is his board and he can do what he wants. Just be glad you have a board to come to!

**Take a Vote on it**
Andy,
Since so many people, have so many different ideas, how about taking the mainstream ideas and letting us vote on them. You could create a poll on each of the main questions. At least it would be the democratic way and if the majority had voted on it then no one else would have a gripe!
Just a suggestion, whatever you do is fine with me; it's your web site!
I just appreciate having this site to browse around on.
