I can't say that I have run across the tire that you mention. I understand your concern as I utilize my 4 X 4 Suburban in much the same way that you utilize your Jeep. I have had the following experiences with tires on my '99 K2500 Suburban.
My Suburban originally came equipped with Firestone Steeltex Radial (mine were an earlier version of the current R4S) LT tires. They were the optional "All-Season" rather than off-road tires - - one of the reasons that I special ordered the Suburban as the only K-series vehicles stocked by local dealers had Good Year Wrangler ATs with their horrible highway ride and noise characteristics (had them on the vehicle I was trading-in). The Firestone tires managed just short of 50,000 miles before replacement (49,444 miles). I was impressed by their ride, handling, and tractability - - but after three different rounds with Firestone recalls (my '78 Plymouth had Firestone 500s and another car had another variety of Firestone tires subjected to a recall), I bolted before the tires were worn out when I was advised that the tires on my Suburban were being considered for recall. When I replaced the Firestones, I went to my long-time tire retailer who handles Good Year, Michelin, General tires, Cooper, and Uniroyal tires. I asked for his recommendation and he pointed me in the direction of Michelin LTX M/S tires with All-Season tread. I went with his suggestion, and these tires have performed beyond my expectation so far as mileage is concerned - - 52,000 miles and counting - - recently took the Suburban in for its regular 6,000 mile rotation and tread measurement indicated an approximate additional 12,000 to 15,000 miles of safe tread life. The tires provide an excellent ride with absolutely none of the tread noise that I found so objectionable with the AT tires on my previous K-series tow vehicle. The only objection that I have had with these tires is that they do not have the tractabilitiy that my previous Firestones did - - the truck has a tendency to follow irregularities in the road if one becomes inattentive to the steering wheel. My Chevrolet/GMC dealer recently aligned the vehicle and made some corrections to compensate for the tires and the problem with tractability is now far less objectionable and wear hasn't been impacted (about 6,000 miles on alignment). Both of the tires above provided an excellent balance between the traction needed when maneuvering with the Airstream in a camp area while maintaining a quiet, comfortable highway ride. I also like the idea that both tires are supported by an extensive dealer network throughout the USA and Canada.
