For whom are Airstreams built?

Brenda and I were discussing our Airstream--really like it--and the fact that it was off-the-floor at Dillons and it is fully carpeted.

This would not work for all--full carpet--but was wondering:

1) Did the factory decide there was a marker for motel room on-the-road....

2) What buyer were they targeting? When we were young and had the boys tracking in debris was a real problem.

3) Someday the carpeting will have to come out I think....we are not hard on it--I like cement parking lot type RV parks.

4) Do some Airstreams come with vinyl flooring? Is an alternative to carpeting only by special order?

Kistler,

Our 28' CCD has vinyl flooring throughout. I think all CCD's have vinyl. It has a hardwood look. We're in Destin Florida now and I'm grateful that we have the vinyl floor. It's incredible how much sand we pick up between the beach and back. Sweeping the floor is a breeze.

Our 34 Classic has vinyl at the entry way and through the galley, wardrobe and bath. The only carpeting we have is in the lounge and bedroom. Works just great for us.

Flooring

Our 34' Limited, 1985 model, had wall to wall carpeting...not the best thing for kids or the beach. I've always asked myself this very same question. Now, it is wall to wall wood laminate flooring, much easier to clean and also makes the trailer feel alot bigger.

Hi Kistler, As cosmotini suggested, all the International CCDs come with vinyl floor (we've had a 22' and a 25' CCD). It's one of the reasons we like the CCD. Also now that we're bringing the cats along they mostly use the human provided scratching post vs. an available carpeted floor.

Ours works for us....but was just wondering about the full carpet for everyone.... I can see that in the bigger/longer you have some "room" for different floor coverings....

Our "entry hall" is in/a part of the "great room" and kitchen This is your tiny model IF you broke up the space with diff flooring it would probably not visually be good.

I was glad to see that the cooktop/stove had (3) burners and not (4).....we thought (4) was useless and actually could get along with (1)...

Improvement would be an ice-maker refrigerator.....am thinking of getting one of those free standing chest types that you put water in...problem is they are $700 and we actually are rather cramped for space as it is.
