Kistler's memory lane post reminded me(not sure why) of a couple of magazine ads. that had Airstreams in them. One had an AS hooked to an early Olds Toronado, a '66 or so with no rear wheels on the car. The rear of the car and front of the trailer were supported apparently by the load leveling hitch. Another had an AS hooked to the back of an early to mid 60's Ford NASCAR stock car and I think Fred Lorenzen or somebody had pulled the trailer a hundred and something mph. Anybody remember these or am I having delusions of Airstreams again?

Greetings Howard!

There were a number of advertisements in RV publications as well as boating/yachting publications during the late 1960s through the mid 1970s illustrating either an Oldsmobile Tornado or a Cadillac Eldorado towing a trailer with its rear wheels removed. I don't remember precisely whether it was EquiLizer, Reese, or Draw Tite in thse advertisements. I do remember in the 1980s when the Chevrolet Citations were relatively new to the market, Reese advertised its light weight load equalizing hitch showing a Citation towing a travel trailer with its rear wheels removed.
