Flooring lifting around toilet? Looking at a used AS...
Hi,
Went to look at a 2005 Safari 25'. All looked nice until I noticed the laminate flooring was lifting all the way around the platform that the toilet sits on. I'm thinking that can't be good.
Any thoughts?

It might have got wet and is now puffed up. Laminates use particle board as a base with the top laminated with the wood look. They will swell if water gets into the base. It will need to be replaced if this has happened.

I had a couple edges of the flooring which curled up about a quarter inch-and I glued it back down. Possibly if I hadn't it would have continued to pull away. But if its happening extensively I'd check for leaks.

Sometimes water splashes out of the toilet while towing, even when driving carefully. It could be just that. However, before buying, i would insist that this be checked thoroughly.

Thanks everyone. We are thinking they are asking a bit much for the unit.... Half the fun is looking right?

The same thing happened to my '05 25 Safari SS. The edges were lifting up on the toilet riser where the vinyl meets the wall. I installed some quarter round molding around all of the edges.
I came across that fix here on the site....I can't seem to put my finger on the link though.

Bathroom floor lifting.
Hi, I would say that this was normal on models like mine and not caused by water leaks, but just not the best design on the bathroom floor area. I fixed my own with 1/4 round oak and aluminum trim. Click on pictures to enlarge them for better view.

We just bought a 2004 25 Classic with the same lifting of the vinyl around the wall by the toilet as kevino stated. What ROBERTSUNRUS did looks very good and I will be doing the same except maybe using an off white? trim as I have the light colored vinyl.
ROBERTSUNRUS, are the wood trim pieces glued or nailed down?
This is one awesome site!!

Hi, RLS. I have a small air powered nail gun that I used to hold the 1/4 round oak mouldings in place. The aluminum strips on the top edge, in front of the toilet, were carpet strips that I cut narrower and then angle cut to fit in place and used screws to hold them down. Most of the holes were already there, but I made a few more make it fit better.
