First shower in my 1975 Overlander !!!

I took my first shower in my 1975 Overlander this weekend...

Two problems:

The folding door does not stay in line with the rim of the tub - it angles out into the bathroom, allowing water that runs down the door to flow freely into the bathroom. Anyone have a solution??? (other than placing a pile of towels on the bathroom floor...) ???

The bracket to attach the "telephone" shower head up high is installed such that the water will only spray back against the wall...

What were they thinking?

Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like you are lucky! The bracket in my brand new International was installed such that the shower head could not even be inserted in it. Kind of a funky wall decoration.

I was able to improve the installation somewhat by inverting the bracket. Now, the shower head fits in it, but sprays where I am not.

The door in My Overlander was within the tub. The door would not come out of the tub because the bottom of the door was below the rim of the tub.

Has your door been adjusted since original installation?

I removed my door because it was to short to keep the water from getting all over the bathroom.

I think that the door was intended for sitting in the tub and using the telphone head as a sprayer.

We like the shower curtain and it looks very good but I admit that it is not original.

We are in our third Airstream product. I think the bracket for the showerhead is just a place to keep it when not in use. You couldn't have used any of the three showers with the showerhead on the hook.

I hate to remove something as integral in an Airstream as a built-in shower door, but I confess I did it.

I had a different problem in my '77 31 ft. I could open the shower door fine from the outside, but had trouble getting out again.

One cold autumn day in Wisconsin the wind blew out the water heater pilot light. I was done with my shower, and the hot water was gone. I sat in the shower for about an hour, wet and cold. Brett was outside and didn't know I was stuck in the stupid shower. I couldn’t warm up, because the pilot light was out.

Needless to say, the door was gone not much later. If I hadn't been able to make the dogs start barking I might have waited all day for Brett to return.

Thanks, everyone. I hate to do the curtain thing. I HATE shower curtains. C&G in Bellflower says they can adjust the latch to make the door work better... I'll report back after next weekend...

After shower door is in the "showering" position it locks itself against a slotted plastic block thingee. The door is open over the tub, so water drains back inside.

And here is what it looks like, open and stowed against the wall. I have not used the hanger for the shower head you see in the picture. I usually hold it in my hand, so I can aim it myself.

Thanks for the photos. Mine doesn't have a "slotted plastic block thingee" I'll see if I can get one. Also, my shower bracket is on the rear end of the tub, not like yours. But I'll see if I can add one - it might help!
