First Major Excursion
Wish us luck, we are taking the rig out for our first excursion. Leaving in the a.m. for Tawas Point on Lake Huron for 6 days of R & R!
Got the new striped "vintage" awning in this morning (just in time, long story), got the new wheels and tires on and will hopefully be loaded up tonight. Worked all last week sandblasting and repainting the tongue. Rubbed on the Aluminum tanks a "little" to shine them up (whoever recertified one of them for me was nice enough to wire wheel them, the idiot, my 8 year old and I spent 2 hours sanding it trying to get it somewhat smooth again). Had fun rigging a drain fitting for the dump valve (rubber "Fernco" couplings are lifesavers!) and "stinky slinky" (Thanks John H.D. the slinky name has stuck in our household now).
When we return, we will post pictures of the awning for those interested. I think the old fella is gonna look pretty good! All 5 of us are geeked to say the least!
Full report next week...
