I stumbled into this forum by accident trying to get information (while overseas) about our first Airstream acquisition. I had no real prior camping experience and definitely no RV experience, let alone having been inside one.......

So many folks, both new and old timers have shared their stories on many topics, but especially about what has worked and what has not worked so well. This forum is the fountain of collective knowledge for the Airstream community I have relied upon since joining and evolving in our Airstream experience.

Interesting to me was to see the chages in basic airstream designs. The interstates, the first base camps, the rear hatch trailers, and the demise of the class A motorhomes. All if the discussions about these changes have been great..

Rick and Tony, You both have been here since 02, and you both have just 48 posts. Interesting coincidence. Notable for the similarities, but also for the very low number of posts. I'm tempted to go back and read your posts, it's obvious you don't say a lot, but I'm assuming when you do speak up/type, it's going to be good.
I'm a rookie. Not even 10 years. Been camping for 50 yrs though.

Here...Here !!! Many nights as a Boy Scout and beyond, sleeping in tents through rainstorms resulting in soaked sleeping bags and gear, no matter how deep the trench was dug around the tent, made me yearn for a camp trailer. AS caught my eye years ago as a teenager... being pulled behind a brand new Chevy Suburban, some day I said...
To be honest, those camping trips and backpacking adventures made me yearn to hear the rain pounding on the roof, but knowing I was warm and dry inside (at least that was what I was told about Airstreams )

Is it still considered foo-foo glamping if you drink an occasional Manhattan ?
Congratulations to Air Forums for a quality run and quality members that helped it along.

I'm in my ninth year on Air Forums. Like the others, I've learned alot about our Airstreams and using our Airstreams. My wife's folks had an Airstream since 1985 so I've been familiar with them, but not in detail. That trailer was passed down to us. I believe I've keep this old Limited in good shape and made it a little bit better through the years. AirForums participants have helped me do that.

I enjoy reading posts and following threads. I agree Air Forums is an upstanding website with good monitors to keep it that way. I will continue to support AirForums.

As a fledgling member I thank Andy and Janet for starting the forum. They provided the structure, but the members make the forum. Here's to the early members that kept the forum going. I have learned much from you and later members. Thanks for the good reads.

I am 12 days away from having been a member for 14 years (since March 24, 2004), but I know I lurked here for a few months before joining, since we bought our first Airstream the previous fall. I must have joined when I realized I needed to ask questions to get it ready for it's first trip that occurred in June 2004.

I will say I too have noticed that the majority of posts have shifted from about vintage units to new units over that time. That is probably natural given the record production levels Airstream has been achieving the last few years.

Well said. When I joined, this place was more about fixing things yourself, interesting modifications, cool restorations and the like. There were great, adventurous posts about the search and finding of a classic model.
Now it seems the place is more about conspicuous consumption, who can add the most doo dads and gew gaws to their rig, complaints about AS quality and repairs which of course were done at the dealer.
Oh, and then there's the universal opprobrium one recieves for even hinting an AS can be towed with anything less than a new F350 diesel outfitted with the latest and greatest WD and SC.
