"Sit Test"

Yeah, that's the first thing I did in every RV we looked at. Head to the commode, and sit with the door closed. I have two knee replacements and some other leg problems that prevent me from doing much knee bending. That ruled out about 90% of all RVs right there! When we tried the 25 raer bed Flying Cloud, I sat down and yelled out, "This is the one!" That extra space was completely significant.

BTW, our 2012 also included the higher ceramic commode. A real bonus too.

Nice job there. Did you post any details about what you did there? I wouldn't mind that setup myself. I worry a bit though about losing the original layout when it's time to sell or get a 27. I suppose it could all be put back.

Anyway, nice job.
Removed the original parts, stored at home, and took it to Jackson Center to install 30' recliner option folding table, center console, and recliners. They built the new storage compartment from Flying Cloud materials to match interior and look like a 25' FC factory option. If ever sold, would market it as is, a trailer for two, or with original configuration easily reinstalled.

A photo set showing start to finish.

I'm confused - I thought the RB had the larger bathroom? One of the things you gain for the loss of the second side lounge window and the shorter lounge seating.

Another point of confusion - I'd think that you could do the Doug Recliner Conversion on a FB as easily as on a RB. Or is there something I'm missing there?

I talked with the service center about the same conversion in our 27FB. They feel without removing the while street side couch, it would be tight with 2 recliners. We're going with one on street side and a thinning out of the dining table.

FB or RB?

I never noticed a difference in the WC size in the two trailers (27FB vs. 28), but, and this is a big butt, it never occurred to me to try a sit test. We'll just have to make do with what we got in the 27FB! Perhaps it will be an incentive to skinny up instead of widening out.

The recliner conversion is delightful, btw. It looks really great!

The problem with recliner conversion on FB is the furnace is located where you may want to attach the folding table to the wall, and it may be a tight fit for the street side recliner. Our 25 RB version has the furnace behind the kitchen sink.

I would think the furnace could be moved forward in the FB version. Probably an everyday task at Jackson Center or many Airstream renovators. Having lived in our trailer with recliners since October we would probably have it done if we had the FB.

It's certainly more comfortable than the bench seats if seating for only two inside works for you. We have a grandchild coming for a visit in May so I may get to sleep in my recliner (been practicing).

As for bathroom size the 25' RB is larger using the identical bath as the 30' FC and Int'l. Tip: If you don't want the bath door opening toward the living space, it takes about an hour to unscrew the hinge and catch from the jambs, turn it upside down, and screw them to the opposite sides.
