Favorite Airstream provisioning tips

Here are mine. Share yours.

1. Have a reserve collection of travel size over-the-counter drugs, toiletries, and the like somewhere to avoid extra trips to town if you run out of something.

2. Velcro a battery operated clock in place somewhere so you know what time it is even if the shore power is off.

3. Consider a locking, folding knife for a kitchen knife. Uses less space and won't cut you if you're fumbling around in the drawer for something.

4. Bring spare bulbs and batteries for everything.

5. Sewing kit.

6. Reasonably complete safety preparations would include a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, weather radio, reliable flashlight, and flares.

7. The larger multi-tool folding knives, while too big for many people to carry around, are great to have in a drawer or toolbox.

8. Cards, checkers, chess, dominos, and a novel.

9. Liquid soap dispensers, wall or counter mounted, where needed. One less thing to secure before traveling

10. Corelle or melamine, but you knew that!

I like to have a piece of rope with me at all times.

All alcohol in plastic containers. Glass can break, and we don't want to be guilty of alcohol abuse.

Great list.
The only thing I can add is my IPad!
My prefered "book reader" not to mention everything else it does.

1. Duct Tape, Bailing Wire, Zip Ties, Bungee cords and Rope to fix things that are moving that shouldn't.

2. Silicone, WD-40, BoeShield or the penetrating lubricant of your choice to fix things that aren't moving but should.

3. A rain jacket. Even in the desert. It is inevitable that you will need to be outside in the rain when you don't expect it.

4. A functional flashlight to make things light when it is dark. A hiker's headlamp is even better when you need both hands to do something.

5. A pair of work gloves and a few pairs of Nitrile gloves for messy chores.

6. Bug spray and sunscreen.

Fire starter. Like a flint and striker, matches, lighter, etc.
A shovel is a must for me.
An assortment of fuses for the truck and trailer. Never know when a fuse will blow.

All,

I like to carry tire pressure gauge...for TV and Airstream tires...nothing worse than a low tire either slowing you down or flattening your trip altogether.

All of the above, plus:

a well-hidden spare key to the Airstream's door and a spare set of tow vehicle keys inside the trailer

also, one extra set of pre-packed wheel bearings and grease seals. Got stranded once for two days due to a failed bearing. Never again.

Adding to everyone else's lists, not a complete list in itself:

Ziplock bags.
Mylar space blanket.
A hat (essential for my poor bald head).
Indoor/outdoor thermometer.
Traveler's checks (easier to replace if lost or stolen than either cash or credit cards).
Cell phone charger.
Air compressor.
Tire plugging kit.
Broom and dustpan.
Wasp spray.
Aluminum foil.
Comfortable shoes (two most important things in life, comfortable shoes and a comfortable bed; if you're not in one, you're in the other).

SUNSCREEN - I have a house full of freckled faced, blue eyed, red heads.... Sun is never kind to them....
BUG SPRAY - It's Louisiana, enough said.
CRAYONS, COLOR BOOKS,CARDS - try entertaining a five year old when its raining without them. We call it the rainy day drawer and she can only play in it if it is raining out, that way it stays fun...
BUNGEES - work great when those darn little plastic clips give out on the overhead cabinets.
EXTRA LIGHTER - we are known to use them to light the fire and then loose them in the dark, though it usually reappears the next morning, I also always forget to check fuel level so i have a back up...
ZIPLOCKS/ALUMINUM FOIL- foil makes great lids, and pans, in fact our last trip had a small drip in the corner of the window over the bed, solution was a foil funnel and a slightly cracked window. As for ziplocks, I use them for everything. They become ice packs, and color boxes, snack bowls, fly repellant, and we love ziplock omelets in the morning....
CHEAP FLIP FLOPS - for that muddy trip to the bath house, or on the beach.
EXTRA CURTAIN CLIPS - since i made my own curtains I have a few unused plastic clips in the rail on each window. With extra curtain clips hanging from them the become the perfect place to hang poofs in the bathroom, pot holders in the kitchen and even my glasses near my bed.

BEST TIME SAVER FOR ME....

DRY ERASE BOARD NEAR THE DOOR while I run out on a trip I add to my list. and there it is staring me in the face as a load for the next trip. no need to go search through cabinets to see what I am missing.

Oh, yeah. I just added one of those to my Interstate. It's the 3M Command Adhesive dry erase board, which lets you insert an 8½×11 picture behind a clear front, so when it doesn't have notes scribbled all over it serves as decoration.

By the way, ziplock omelets? As a single guy who doesn't cook much, the idea sounds fascinating. Are they easy to make?

Bug spray nice general rule but depending where you're at will determine what you need.
Inland = off = misquitos
coast = skin so soft = no see um flies
Canada = hat with neck guard = black fly
Florida = screen = yellow fly
