Pizza and a movie next door. Both are walking distance from the plant and you'll get change from your $20.00 bill.

Wright Patterson Air Force museum
346 N. Elm Street, Fairborn. I grew up there while my dad was an instrument IP in T-33s at Wright-Pat. Went to school at Lincoln elementary -- and it was uphill 3 blocks both ways! Fell in and out of love with Lynn Jones -- 1st grade flames just don't last.

I'm sure you've researched via the 'search' function. Seems quite a number have done the factory tour. Enjoy!

the jc tour is a blast...don does a great job leading

it is hard to take everthing in, with just one visit.....

are you campin in the terra port (brrrrrrrrrrr) or just drivin in for the day?

the wbcci hq is on the east end of town....same road as the factory....if you are a member or considering membership...stop by early in the day before the tour time....

take some eye wear...
if you have glasses already, don won't ask you to wear the safety goggles....just the ear plugs.

take a camera......i read here recently, they no longer allow cameras on the tour....but take one just in case they have reversed this awful rule...

there are a couple of threads here on the factory tour....with pics....look them over before going...the process will be more logical....

go on line to airstream.com and look over the online shopping stuff....you will then have previewed some of the goodies in the factory store....of course there are lots of other things too....like odd little parts....so take a list of things you might need for your trailer.....

the bicycle museum of america is just 20 minutes west and is the finest collection of industrial era bikes i've ever seen anywhere....better than the smithsonian....really. but if only in the region for 1 day...there may no be time to do everything...

have fun

Insulation

If you haven't left for the tour already, if you could check on what type of insulation they're using in the new trailers, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

I'm in the process of rebuilding my '58 and was impressed with the capability of the new trailers to keep very cool in the summer.

From what I hear cameras are no longer allowed, so this is as good as it's gonna get outside of the real plant tour.

Tour

The absolute COOLEST thing to do is to order a BRAND NEW AS from your dealer, then get the dealer to let you know when yours is inproduction and then take the tour and see your baby being built! Stay in town or near JC for a couple of days and see it in various stages of build. The folks who work on the line will answer ANY question you have - so don't be afraid to ask. They do a great job and are proud of their product.

Enjoy!

My son and I took the tour in December and I found the people on the lines to be wonderful. One man carefully sanding and crafting a cabinet door told me he used to build the Classic Motor Homes and may have even help build my Chummy. My questions started flowing and his answers were just as quick. He never told me that I talked to him clear through his break time!
