Since I'll be traveling solo for 2 weeks of my 6 week trip, thought I'd get the dealer to install a back-up camera to assist with backing the AS into camping sites and the like. The TV already has a camera that should help with hitching the trailer to the TV.
A little shocked at the price: $799 plus tax for the camera, plus $95 for the install.
I don't mind paying for a quality product but seems excessive to me. Did a quick search and cannot really find a concensus as to what is the best. Most of the discussions focus on hitch cameras.
I suppose $900.00 is better than a bent panel . . .
Voyager camera is running $600 on Amazon. Figure an hours labor with a dealer to put it in. Had it on our 2014 FC. Ran it all of the time while driving and backing.
Also check out the other recent thread on another wireless solution using iPhone and a wireless IP camera.
We have a Voyager wireless camera. I find it much more useful as rear view camera than a back-up camera. I find the distance distortion unreliable for close quarters backing of the Airstream.

I agree. Mirrors are still best for backing up. The voyager is fantastic on the road as a virtual rear view mirror and is just ok as a reference backing in to a site.
Once I had an understanding what I was seeing in relative distances in the back up camera monitor, it is extremely helpful in determining the final spotting of the trailer. With the camera I can back up within a foot of an object.
A helpful tool is still a flag on a six foot pole, mounted in a wood block, set exactly where I want the bumper and when the bumper hits it the flag bends and becomes visible in the camera. I use this especially in my garage to have about 18" from bumper to wall.
