I'm sure that everyone already knows this, but just in case some of the newer members don't, here's some help.
After you finish your post, click the 'preview post' button. When that window opens you can delete the extra line spacing and then press the 'submit reply' button and it will post correctly.

Extra Lines in Posts
Most know that it’s easy to have more than one Browser on a computer ex. FireFox, Crhome, etc. All people need to do is use one that doesn’t produce extra white in your Post. Easy fix

True. Internet Explorer 11 doesn't do that but for those of us still on Windows 7 because we're too stubborn to upgrade, IE 11 is no longer accepted at some sites and you can't upgrade IE unless you upgrade your computer too. I upgraded one of my computers to WIN 10 and it took me 3 days to figure out what it had done to my O/S so I could boot up.
I'm on the latest release of Firefox and it still adds blank lines, has done it for quite some time. Using the Preview Post button has become a habit for me now, and I've caught errors that needed to be fixed anyway.
Now, since I'm too stubborn to upgrade my laptop, you don't think I'll be OK with adding and learning a new browser too, do you?

Hi Janet,
It seems as if the "extra lines" problem has improved, at least within the PM system?
Thanks for everything that you, and the other mod folks, do here.

This Firefox problem seemed to have simmered down until recently IMO -- one sample post:

I guess I'll build one of those pressure & test tools. *sigh*. At least it can be used for purging the pipes if needed.
Two possible outcomes:
1) System doesn't leak and I can confidently fill it with water
2) It leaks. Then I'm still back at square 1 and must fill with water anyway in order to find the leak.
I highly doubt we'll ever see one of these Siberian storms here in TX again. But who knows?

Not sure if Firefox is involved here, but the extra blank lines have been quite noticeable in general recently IMO.
Thanks for helping to keep AF running smoothly!

I switched to Google Chrome and solved that and a problem with pages loading too slowly. It may have to do with Firefox on Windows 7. I prefer Firefox but the extra lines and the slow response were getting to me, so I installed Chrome and that works better. Chrome is probably gathering all my information where Firefox was supposed to block that (maybe that's why it was slower) but what are ya gonna do?

FYI another recent example, Janet. [not confirmed that this is Firefox]

Peter, thank you. I have decided not to sell at this time. After reading this and several threads and talking to my son I've decided to keep what I have.
I hope most of y'all have reached the age where you and your kids are both smart at the same time. It's a wonderful time of life!
Probably nobody interested, but rationale was that even if I waited until the "bubble bursts" to buy a smaller unit, $25,000. would probably not get me one less than 15-20 years old. Advantages of smaller unit, to us at least, don't overcome the angst of buying that vintage. Yes, mine is about to be 30 years old but "I know what I've got."
Thanks to all for your input. As always, this group is an incredible source of all things Airstream.

Thanks.

It's a problem with any forum powered by vBulletin where the user is using the Firefox browser. I found a thread posted in 2018 about this topic where it occurs on multiple forums and the common item was they all used vBulletin. It has to do with a change made to Firefox along with a setting in vBulletin.

This might be the relevant Firefox change:

I'm guessing that the old forum software expects different behaviors by Firefox and Chrome, but now they act about the same. Or maybe it is a Firefox bug.
You might be able to test the theory by posting to AVS (a forum using vBulletin) after toggling this pref:
editor.use_div_for_default_newlines
DSperber wrote:Genius! You are a gentleman and a scholar!
Toggling that about:config preference indeed reverted the posting behavior back to the way it should work, i.e. with once again only a single blank line between paragraphs when pressing the ENTER key twice. It had been suggested in the AVS Forum thread that clicking on the "Editor's command mode" when composing a post would also prevent the extra blank line. I suspect this is a one-time manual way to accomplish the same thing that toggling the editor about:config preference does permanently.
Many thanks. I've posted this finding over on the "forum operations" thread in AVS Forum where I reported this to them.
This seemed to fix the problem, however I don't see an option in our editor for "Editor's command mode". It's supposed to be in the upper right corner above the composition window.

The solution(s)
Well, here you go, the solution for Firefox users
For Yourself : in your browser
1) Type about:config into the Firefox url bar
2) Type editor.use_div_for_default_newlines into the search box on the page
3) Hit the [<>] toggle button on the right to switch the value to False
Above steps illustrated below:
ABC
123
Red, Yellow, Blue
One blank line
No double spacing
There is a server solution too

You can modify your Firefox browser like I show. It's a simple change, only 1 tweak from True to False. I've already done it in mine and now I'm thinking of going back to Firefox as my default browser.

Considering I've gone back and deleted extra lines more than three thousand times in the last eighteen months it seems worth trying the fix. Thanks richw.

I'm still on Windows 7 (no plan to change on this laptop) so I applied the change. This helps not only on this forum but on other vBulletin forums as well.
On the downside, no matter how many times I uninstall/reinstall Firefox it continues to give me problems. So I pretty much use Google Chrome because Internet Explorer is no longer being updated or supported on other sites. MS Edge won't run on WIN 7.
A new laptop is in my future. This one runs well but I dropped it on day 1, December 2012. I think it's time to move on.
