I just updated Firefox, and it looks like the problem is still with us IMO.

Hi Janet,
FYI this problem persists in Firefox which is current on my MacBook Pro [63.0.1 (64-bit)].
Any insights from your IT team?
Thanks for all the hard work you moderators do!
Peter
PS -- I have not corrected/edited the extra line breaks in this post, including the gap inside the quote at the top.

Yes. Posting on the airforums site (which uses vBulletin Version 3.8.8 Beta 1) using Firefox 63.0.1 still produces extra blank lines. The vBulletin current release is version 5.4.5, which apparently does not have this problem with Firefox, or at least I couldn't find mention of it.
Some time ago I changed my Firefox configuration to work around the problem on airforums. Here - link1 & link2 - is a rather technical discussion of the problem. Another post - link - contains, besides a lot of complaining, a workaround for it. The workaround reverts Firefox to the behavior expected by older forum software.
Here is the procedure I used:
- Open Firefox configuration settings by navigating to about:config in a new tab.
- Search for the editor.use_div_for_default_newlines parameter.
- Double-click that line, which should change the value from true to false.
- Verify the workaround by creating a new airforums post. The troublesome extra blank lines should not appear.
- Close the about:config tab.
Hope this helps.

PS -- Janet,
In view of the recent comments, is AirForums going to upgrade its version of vBulletin to take care of the problem?

Yep that’s what I use. Should work equally well on macOS or Windows though.

line 1 test
line 2 test
line 3 test
The 3 lines above are single spaced in the composition box.
Edit -- the double blank lines above were created by the AirForums site just now. In the original post composition box, those were single blank lines. Conclusion: problem still exists, which I have noticed all over the place IMO.
I do not want to follow kpm/Keith's advice, and change the coding in my laptop. I have to remove extra blank lines in every single post during a follow-up edit phase.

This worked with KPM's suggestion:
Open Firefox configuration settings by navigating to about:config in a new tab. - Search for the editor.use_div_for_default_newlines parameter.
- Double-click that line, which should change the value from true to false.
- Verify the workaround by creating a new airforums post. The troublesome extra blank lines should not appear.
- Close the about:config tab.

Hi Janet,
Per recent posts, is it up to each individual user to change his or her Firefox settings to fix this?
Can't Airforums.com solve this for all Firefox users? I have noticed many recent posts with extra blank lines in them, but have given up investigating . . .
Thanks,
Peter

This fixed it for me before but it recently came back. I guess an update reset the parm to TRUE. I fixed it again.
