Anyone found any solutions other than careful editing of posts?

Is this a Firefox problem in fact?

Thanks and have a good weekend.

Peter
Yep, there it is, plain as day. I’m on my iPhone on Foxfire, but let me go get my MacBook Pro and see what happens.

I’m not sure if the wifi in this RV Park is enough, but we shall see. I should say the wifi is much better than in other years, there are just too many people, not enough broadband.

OK, here I am Peter, took a bit of doing. Not enough wifi to download email, but I can pull up a website.

The above^ is a single space.

The above^ is a double space.

MacOS High Sierra 10.13.2

Oh shoot, just realized I deleted Foxfire a couple months ago because of some problems and this is Safari. Duh Moment. Sorry Peter. I don't believe I have enough broadband to download Foxfire here. Frankly I don't have stable wifi and enough broadband at home either. ugh. In a couple weeks we visit morlach's mom and she has working internet; I'll download Foxfire there. I like it better anyway.

Here is a test from me. I'm using Firefox. I will put no space between my paragraphs. So if space shows up, that's not me doing it. Okay, here we go:
This is a test and paragraph1 (I put no space):

This is a test and paragraph2 (I put no space):
This is a test and paragraph3 (I put no space):
The result...?

As I mentioned in your other thread, I am wondering if you are using Firefox, because your posts have many extra blank lines?

Thanks,

Peter

We get E7 code. We check breaker. We unplug the shore power and re-plug it. Turn off and on breakers. Turn on and off battery disconnect. Nothing seems to work, so we basically give up.

Then, at 3 in the morning, AC kicks in.

This happened twice at the same campground (different sites).

But we don't use AC a lot, so I can't say that this is the campsite electrical grid is the problem (Everyone else seems to be using AC fine).

Both days were really really hot during day (and obviously that's why we want the AC) and cooled off in the evening. I can understand it if it doesn't work at all, but why does it work at 3 in the morning?

The only thing I can think of is the cord. When it's hot, maybe the cord's insulation is degrading. And when it cools off, the cord starts to work maybe? But everything else works though, like microwave.

Does anyone have insight?

Colonial Airstream has offered troubleshooting over the phone today, and they may be able to figure out what's going on. But before that, does anyone have an insight?

Thanks!

I've checked the voltage was near 120V, but I didn't look at the voltage at the moment AC got turned on. As someone has suggested, it might have been lower than the time I did check. If so, it might have been the shore power problem.

A long story short, I'm not with the trailer at this moment, but I'll be there tomorrow evening. I have a few things to check as people have suggested; thanks.

What seems to be unique in our case is:

A) It happened twice at the same campground (two different sites but in the same section of the campground...presumably on the same grid)

B) AC didn't work when it was hot, but it did work when it cooled off.

C) We were the last people to leave the site the last time. In other words, there was no one else in the same section of the campground. AC worked fine....although it wasn't hot. It was just warm.

I plan to check:

1: Un-plnging the cable from the trailer side (not from the pedestal) and re-plug back in securely.

2: See if GFI outlets are tripped.

3. Try the "hard reboot"

4. Check the wire behind breaker.

5. Open up some of the AC vents to find a junction box. Make sure cables are connected tight.

6. Borrow a cable to see if the problem is with the cable.

7. If all fails, make an appointment with Colonial.

Extra Lines in Posts

Can anyone recreate the issue in Chrome?

In Firefox previous to version 60, hitting the Enter key on a rich text editor inserts an HTML < b > element (which means break).

Internet Explorer and Safari ( I think) generate an HTML < p > element (which means paragraph).

Google Chrome encloses paragraphs within HTML < div > structures.

In Firefox 60 they changed the behaviour to match Chrome, so < div > is now used as the new default separator.

So if we can reproduce this in Chrome that’s probably the issue. Good news is that with a bit of fiddling you can change the Firefox default paragraph separator if you like. I can post those instructions a bit later if folks are interested.

This is just one reason why developers wished all browsers rendered content more consistently. It’s gotten much better than the past but there are still annoyances such as these.

Note: there are no spaces in the HTML elements with the brackets above but I had to add spaces so the forum software would not interpret them as actual HTML elements. This tells me there may be some post processing scripts that run in the forum software which may also be altering the content as we post, probably for security reasons I won’t go into here.

I used the iOS Airforums app to type this post. Not actually sure which browser plugin it is using but probably Safari which is probably why no extra lines were added.

Thanks for the excellent clarification. We have Firefox 61.0.1 (64-bit), on a MacBook Pro FYI.

Is this something that AirForums could work on correcting in the coding here? If Chrome does the same thing as Firefox, seem as if it would behoove this site to adjust IMO.

Thanks again,

Peter

PS -- Janet, any sense of whether there is an AF adjustment possible on this issue?

line 5 with two Returns entered next

line 6 with one Return entered next
line 7

__________________________________________
PS -- on edit -- conclusion --

With one carriage Return entered at the end of a line, the formating correctly puts the next line where it belongs, like "single spacing" lines in WORD.

With two carriage Returns, however, we end up with two blank lines, where there should only be one blank line.

Thanks for your help.

Peter

Thanks! It is my understanding that a patch from Mozilla will be needed to stop the double line spacing.

Every few years one browser or another has an update and we have this issue. This year, it's Firefox. Typically they will release an update to the browser and the issue will be fixed. Until then your choices are:

1. Use a browser other than Firefox.
2. Change your account settings at the forum to use the Standard Editor Toolbar instead of the WYSIWYG full editor.

You can do that here: https://www.airforums.com/forums/pro...do=editoptions

Scroll and hit save after... Note that making this change will result in a simplified reply editor.

Janet,

There's a 3rd choice - live with extra white space.

Mozilla is notoriously non-responsive to user complaints - but then Microsoft & the other big companies are too.

There have been a few Firefox updates since this started happening on a few websites etc last year with 60, so it's obviously not high on Mozilla's list of priorities!

I was asked to report it here by Peter & did so.

Cheers!
Tom
