Exterior protection

Hi
We just purchased a new 26' Flying Cloud and the dealer is trying to sell us NanoCure RV appearance protection to be applied before we pick up the trailer. They claim it prevents oxidation.
The trailer is going to be stored outside with no shelter and we live near the ocean.
What do you all recommend? Is the Protectant a waste of money? Should I get a cover for the trailer instead? They sell a cover that does not scratch the aluminum.
I appreciate any guidance as we are first time Airstream owners!
Thanks
Cynthia

Hi

The trailer has clear coat on it already. Adding something over the top of that is not needed. The dealer is just trying to make more money.

Congratulations on your new trailer!

While I am not familiar with NanoCure, your trailer has a clear coat sealant on it already that will protect against corrosion. You will still have to maintain that clear coat but I doubt that the dealer-applied coating is much more than a profit booster.

While the cover may not scratch the aluminum, any dirt or debris that would get caught in the lining will.

I store my Pendleton outside except for winter when it sits inside a local farmer's machine shed. Washing a couple times a year and periodic use of CorrosionX and Boeshield are all the exterior finish maintenance required so far.

I am very suspicious of dealer add-ones. My experience has been that most are of dubious value to the purchaser but have exorbitant markups for the dealer.

Congratulations again, and welcome to the family!
Bob

Actually, we found a very good place that will store our new trailer inside.
I appreciate the good advise.
Thanks!
