Extend Ladders

While at the Minneapolis RV Show I came across a booth were they were selling Extend telescoping ladders. They weigh about 25 pounds and extend from 2.5 ft to 12.5 ft. It looks like an ideal ladder for hauling in an Airstream. Does anyone have experience with it?

One caveat. They were selling this ladder at the RV show for $210 show special discounted from $260. So I went on the Internet and found them for about $170 everywhere including my beloved Target.com.

For an Airstream trailer, I find that one of the little 3-foot step-ladders is a lot more useful than any sort of straight ladder. The 3' height is just enough so that I can hand-turn the locking rings on the Zip-Dee awning which is a lot better and more secure than turning them with the awning rod.

I don't know what use I would have for an extending straight ladder on the road.

I've seen these ladders in various RV catalogs and magazines, they seemed like a great item, but I thought they were pricey, just didn't know if I would use it enough to justisy the purchase.

Every time I wash, wax, service or inspect around the top edge I realize how convienent a colapsable ladder would be.

I have the 3 wide step utility ladder but at my 5'9" height it doesn't quite cut it. Then the standard ladders seem wobbly and has to be parallel to the trailer. These were my observations when trying to get atop with the leaf blower last Fall. But then what other reason than maybe finagling with the awning do I need to get up there when traveling?

I have another reason. In my house I have a loft space in the sewing room and also need to get up into my timbers to reach the skylights in all my upper floor rooms. We have one of those fancy all positions folding ladders but it is rather cumbersome. So I am considering Xtend ladder yet.
