Last night, another local here in sent me looking out in the boonies where he said two old Airstreams were setting. As I drove around, looking in the back yards, I came upon them...two parked end to end out behind a barn, one a 31 footer and the other looked like a 16-19 footer. It looked like no one was around, but I knocked on the door, and a young guy came to the door. I asked him about the Airstreams and he said the Yeah, I think my dad would sell the small one. Oh how I was eager to see what the small one was! I asked him if I could go out back and look at them. He said sure, and out the back door I was. A 1965 Caravel
in great shape (needs tires) but all the interior in perfect shape, all windows there, even the aluminum jack stands. Well, the young guy gave me his dad's number, and I called him right up. A former Marine! What luck. I told him I'm interested, asked him what he wanted for it, and bought it on the spot. $2500. Now, the wife and I will both have an oldie, and both 1965
models. I can't wait to go get it. Next week, I'll go start getting her ready to hit the road.
