Ebay A/S Forums Link

I am having trouble with someone else getting my ID on ebay, and I'm getting someone else's too. The other person contacted me, turns out they are an A/S Forums member too. Is this coincidence or is there a link that has surfaced between the 2 sites? Anybody else having such problems?

Me too. I have also gotten email for questions asked about ebay items for people I assume are forum members (Frank Rowe for one, I am guessing FrankR) and have all kinds of items popping up on my watch list that I have not added, mostly airstream or related and diesel parts which assumed were from FrankR.

Ebay A/S Forums Link

I have noticed the same thing, but just in the last 72 hours. Up until now, I had attributed it to problems with my ISP - - they are terribly over-subscribed and strange things happen every time there is large number of subscribers at home trying to get on-line. We have had our first major snow-storm of the season and most of us seem to be staying close to home and the Internet which has meant all sorts of strange locally occurring things.

This morning, I thnk that Jason's E-Bay user-name has appeared in my E-Bay log-in screen. I am wondering if it might not be related to the way our browsers handle cookies. I am running Windows XP - Professional with Internet Explorer. It also appears that it could be related in some way to the threads to which we are subscribed.

First thing I did is dump the cookies for ebay and the forums and it did work ok for awhile. I am not subscribed to any threads so that isn't it in my case.

I have not had the problem that you are describing. Have all of you used the "View all ebay items" shortcut? This could be the problem with the cookies. I also use my same handle on e-bay, so no bidding with my userer name either.

I did after Andy first put it up, but have dumped the cookies twice since doing it. It often comes up with Jason's id, but now it is phausmann. Look out Peter, I told you I was craving an aluminum body. It always seems to be forum member's ids, there has to be a link.

Jason,
Your ID comes up on my Ebay ID too. Sounds like you're the most popular Ebay user. Now what can I use?...Hmmmm!

As long as I decline cookies from this site ebay works. Only problem is I have to log in here each time.

Very strange....

If you right click on one of the links, you will notice there is no user info sent to eBay. What a strange issue. How about I get rid of the "On Auction" part and then watch your username on eBay over time and report back. I might have to look deeper into Cookies. What browser is everyone using?

Ebay A/S Forums Link

Greetings Andy!

I am utilizing Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.2600.0; and Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows XP Version 6.0.2600.0.

When this problem presents itself on my machine, it is when I am trying to log-in to "My-Ebay" from the E-Bay homepage. It happens only when I am at home utilizing my dial-up connection. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether I open a browser window and go to E-Bay first or if I open a browser window and go to AirstreamForums first. In either case the two locations are running in separate windows. I cleared out all of my cookies and temporary Internet files last night with no change in the problem.
