Wink Eat your heart out John HD

Remembering the previous discussions about deer hunting I thought I would post this picture I just took not 30 minutes ago from my kitchen window. You can see our Airstream in the background to keep it in forum context.

Very nice....to bad you didn't also have a Miller High Life can or bottle to complete the image!

You know you might consider sending that to Airstream for picture of the month. A nice photo!

The one on the left and the two on the right appear to be examining your coach. Are they thinking of buying? Or just trying to decide the year model?

Total of 7 Deer!

John,

Actually there are seven deer wandering around. I managed to capture four in the one picture. I just captured another with five. They are still out there so will see what I can capture yet.

No antlers today

Not a one. Last week two rather large bucks came through with large racks. So they are out there.

Critter Feed

Most of the stuff on the ground is critter feed we put out for the squirrels to keep them off the bird feeders. It is amazing to watch squirrels eventually defeat any feeder you put out. The best solution is to accommodate them to limit their feeder assaults. The deer are worse. If they can reach a feeder they will suck out every seed in a matter of minutes.

The deer have been hanging around all day. I went out and threw a handful of critter feed (mostly corn) in front of the Airstream. It will start snowing tonight. In the morning I will seed in front of the Airstream again and see what I can get for a photo opportunity Sunday morning.

I took Eric's advice and sent in the first photo to Airstream.

John, John, John -- I have to reveal that it hadn't snowed for 6 weeks here in St. Cloud until Thursday night. So-o-o, unless you would have tracked that stag for 2 months our snow wouldn't have provided any benefits in hunting season.

Davydd, it is a mighty nice layout you have there though. When "we" move out into nature it is nice if we tolerate deer, raccoons, woodchucks, etc., eating their way through our gardens and apple trees. It is no fair to invite in archers and birth control to limit herd sizes. The wildness was what lured us into the outer suburbs in the first place. That's not the complete answer though, since we do limit the hardships that would control herd size. What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive....

We wouldn't face these issues if we could hitch up our trailers for this longest 6 months of the year and make tracks for "up north." Brr-r-r-rs!! [rest of the world: we're holding at 10 degrees above zero, the warmest in the next 4-5 days. 3-6" of snow is expected tonight...]

Unhappy I tried but no luck

It's getting dark and it looks as if the deer will not be returning today. I tried to lure them back closer to the Airstream but this is all I got...those pesky little squirrels.
