Hi,
I own a rear bath 79 MH. I am wondering about the center bath model with the rear bedroom:
My wife and I would like to share a bed instead of the twin beds that we now enjoy (our two children sleep up front). Besides that, what may be the advantages/disadvantages of the rear bed compared to the rear bath model? Were the waste tanks placed differently? smaller bathroom? better weight distribution? How many were made, what kind of prices do they fetch? etc.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I have never seen a rear bedroom model, but I may be looking to find one......

1985 Airstream 345 Classic Motorhome
with rearbed went for $19,000 on ebay.

The only rear double beds are in the 325 and 345's. The only disadvantage is the small bathroom. Kinda tight.

The tanks are bigger! Grey is in the center between the two rear tires. White is under the bed.

The 345 is the most common model. There are some 325's out there.

You can also lok for a 310 that has a rear dinette that converts to almost king size.

Prices are all over the map. 345's go for $18,000 to $35,000 depending on year and condition. The later ones have an east-west queen that is popular.

If at all possible I'd like to stick with a 28 footer. I checked out the rear bedroom floorplan on your site, and that would probably fit our family just dandy. Are you familiar with the 28 footer rear bedroom at all; compared to the 28 footer rear bath?

We have a rear bedroom/center bath configuration...
advantages:
1)we can put the kids to bed and still stay up together or with friends.
2)the rear stays warmer in winter than the front
3)the head is all thats in the "head closet"; shower is in separate closet across the hallway
4)the rear stays cooler in summer w/ AC on
5)great place to take nap during the day

disadvantages:
1) wife & I sleep on the futon style fold down couch which has to be made nightly
2)have to go into the "kids room" to use the head once they are in bed for the night

Not sure what differences are with the tank configuration...my fresh water is under streetside rear bed, black & grey are under the floor in the rear...genset compartment is under the curbside rear bed.

the rear beds are split twins w/ small floor cabinet between them. I have seen posts about removing the cabinet, adding a board and some foam and making a large bed in the rear...once the kids are too big, that's probably what we'll do.

Is the Argosy painted aluminum or......? I would rather have the Airstream look, but thanks for the reply. it sure looks to be in great shape.

Yes,the Argosy (Airstream's First Motorhome), is painted aluminum.

My understanding is that the Argosy's are aluminum in the center but the front and rear of the units are actually galvanized steel caps. Brett's clever trick is to walk around with a magnet and see where it sticks and where it does not.

No one will ever mistake the shape of an Airstream/Argosy motor home for a SOB. The aluminum skin is another dead give away. But the right paint on an Argosy gives you a chance to make it really unique.

If you take a look at the GMCCOOP.COM web site- he has a photo there of an Argosy stripped of paint so you can see the end caps. The potential for the one on EBAY is verygood I would say, amd having watched privcing now for over a year it might be a nice deal.

For some reason, I can't get to the GMCCOOP site right now. But I believe there are only 2 galvanized steel panels on an Argosy. One is the panel on top over the windshield and the other is the one at the rear over the back window. The rest of the front and rear caps are aluminum.
